    Car Series Name Lists Introduction

For (certain admittedly OCD) housekeeping reasons, I want to make some ordered master lists of the car series I have.  I created these car serieses to organize my mess of hundreds of truly random cars; there's only rare pretext to connect a car design to its namesake. The main series are:

    1. Amber: From Roger Zelazny's book series; [tag], [list]
    2. Design Contests: to design the replicas (a lot of overlap); [tag], [list]
    3. Elemental: Chemicals from the periodic Table of elements; [tag], [list]
    4. Galaxy: From planets, their moons, and other astro-objects; [tag], [list]
    5. Imperial: from the names of Roman Emperors; [tag], [list]
    6. Replicas: for designs that simulate famous fictional vehicles (e.g. James Bond's cars) ([tag], [list])
This list will be updated as well as the individual name lists (whenever possible).

    Abbreviations:
W =  link to the Wikipedia page, if available.
D10 (or whatever number): the division,
Year in parenthesis is the model year.

    Luna 2065 - D10 Light Cycle (Galaxy)

Type: Light Cycle (C/A frame), Chassis: Cycle, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: 10 cid IC engine (Tubes/Blue/VP), 3 gal. Heavy Duty tank (4dp), Tires: 2 FP-PRs (8dp), Crew: Driver (no equip), Weaponry HMG (9/HD) front (2D area), Weighted Accessories: nil, Unwgt. Acces.: HD brakes, Overdrive, [0 total links], Vehicle Armor: 12 pts: F(6) B(6); HC: 3, Acc. 15 (Overdrive 7.5),  Top Speed 80 (100), MPG: 80, Range: 240, DM: 1/3, Hit Mod: -2, Weight: 797 lbs. Max 800, Cost: $9,830.00

Design Notes - The idea was to make a light cycle with a HMG with HD ammo.  That required the smallest possible engine, comparatively low armor, etc.  Without playtesting, I've decided that that cycles should have C/A frames

Name Notes - In making a master list of the galaxy cars I realize I didn't have one for our moon (although I have the distinct memory of making one back in the day).

      Titus 2065 - Div55 Camper (Imperial, Updated)

Type: Camper, Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: 150 cid IC engine (Tubes/Blue/VP), 5 gal. dueling tank (8dp), Tires: 6 PR-Radials (8dp), Crew: Driver (no equip), Weaponry AC (10/incen) in turret (3D burst, burn 2/1), 2 linked AC (9/reg) front, smartlink, Weighted Accessories: Active Suspension, IFE, Unwgt. Acces.: HD-antilock brakes, Overdrive, [1 total link], Dischargers: 10 total: 4 oil (FBRL) 6 smoke (2T, 2U, 1R 1L), Defenses: nil; Wheel Armor: 23 total = 2x10 pt WG rear, 3 pt WH front (choose where), Component Armor 9 pts LRFP for (a) PP & gas tank (3 sp), (b) Driver (2 sp), (c) front AC (6 sp), Cargo: 7 sp., 3.2 lbs.; Vehicle Armor: 120 pts sloped Composite (2 Metal/140 Plastic): F(0/24) B(0/22) R(0/25) L(0/25) T(0/17) U(2/5); HC: 4,  Acc. 10 (Overdrive 5),  Top Speed 60 (80), MPG 45, Range 225, DM: 1, Hit Mod: 0, Weight: 7796.8 lbs. Max 7800, Cost: $54,982.50
      • More Armor Option - slope armor; remove active suspension, IFE, and the AC comp. armor; add 14 pts Wheel armor, add 26 pts plastic vehicular armor; HC 3, Hit Mod -1, 7798 lbs, $51,174.50
Design Notes - Updated from this obsolete 2037 design:

Camper, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., Super PP, driver, 4 PR tires rear 2 PRR front, 2 linked AC front, turreted RL with mag., bumper trigger, (7 cargo spaces, 3 lb), 138 pts armor: F40 (ram), R24 L24 B25 T10 U15; Acc. 5, HC 3, 7797 lbs. $32,190 [2015: actually it's $33,590]

Normally when I'm updating I will try to preserve the whole she-bang, in this case that would mean the full weaponry, ramplate, and the price.  But I wanted to try the 3 autocannon collection. I don't think it's so successful given the lack of armor.  I sacrificed much of that for some necessary components - specifically active suspension and a fire extinguisher (pretty much a must for a gas engine).  The option was to show what you would get for all of those: 26 pts of armor (is it worth it?)

Name Notes - See the original.

      Enduro Supreme 2065 - Div55 Pickup

Type: Luxury, Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: 150 cid IC engine (Blue/VP/Spr), 5 gal. dueling tank, Tires: 6 Radial-Solids (11dp), Crew: Driver (no equip), Weaponry Laser in turret (3D, area, 1/0 burn), Laser front (3D, area, 1/0 burn), smartlinked, Weighted Accessories: Active Suspension, laser battery, Unwgt. Acces.: SWC, HD-antilock brakes, Overdrive, smartlinked, no-paint windshield, [0 total links], Dischargers: 10 total: 4 oil (FBRL) 6 paint (2T, 2U, 1R 1L), Defenses: 4 bumper triggers linked to oil disch & front weapon, Wheel Armor: 37 total = 2x10 pt WG rear, 17 pts WH front (choose), Component Armor 9 pts LRFP for (a) PP (3 sp), (b) Driver (2 sp), Cargo: 11 sp, 0 lbs.; Vehicle Armor: 101 pts Composite (38 LR Metal/63 Plastic): F(8/10) B(8/10) R(8/12) L(8/12) T(4/13) U(2/6); HC: 4, Acc. 15 (Overdrive 7.5),  Top Speed 70 (90), MPG: 44, Range 220, DM: 1, Hit Mod: 0, Weight: 7800 lbs. Max 7800, Cost: $54,767.50

Design Notes - This design came from my update of the obsolete 2037 Enduro.  In general, I think I used too many campers when a pickup could do, and with the gas engines (not around, at least to my broke-asset  teenager, languishing with the original set & Al's 2035 alone) the space I wanted in a camper was more viable in a pickup.

        I Feel Ridiculous, SJGames Update

For whatever reason, I decided this year to get back to blogging about Car Wars without driving a lap around the internet for any recent news and updates.  Holy macaroni!  Almost every product is now online!  Mercy sake and hallelujah!  It's going to take some time for me to take stock of all the new stuff (and maybe I should update my links etc).

I am in the boonies on Car Wars in general; I'm waiting for my kids to get old enough to play it, and even then - given the necessary taboo in our times about kids even talking about firearms in schools - I'm worried about doing that.  I may need to wait until they are even older.

        Enduro 2065 - Div50 Camper (Updated)

Type: Camper, Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: Sport Electric (Pwr 3000, 12dp), Tires: 6 Solid Radials (11dp), Crew: Driver (no equip), Weaponry Laser back (3D area, 1/0 burn), 2 linked Lasers (3D area, 1/0 burn) front, Weighted Accessories: Laser Battery, Unwt. Acces.: HD brakes, [1 total link], Dischargers: 10 total: 4 oil (FBRL) 6 smoke (2T, 2U, 1R 1L), Defenses: 4 bumper triggers (to oil disch. & also linked to that side's weapons); Wheel Armor: 29 total = 2x10 pt WG rear, 9 pts WH front (choose where), Component Armor 9 pts LRFP for (a) PP (7 sp), (b) Driver (2 sp), Cargo: 7 sp, 3.8 lbs.; Vehicle Armor: 125 pts sloped Composite Armor (2 Metal/123 Plastic): F(0/25) B(0/25) R(0/25) L(0/25) T(0/18) U(2/5); HC: 3, Acc. 5,  Top Speed 100, DM: 1, Hit Mod: 0, Weight: 7796.2 lbs. Max 7800, Cost: $49,492.50
        • Turret Option  - put back Laser in a turret, add smartlink, remove 14 pts armor, 1 pt Wheel armor,   Weight: 7796.2 lbs. Cost: $51,062.50 .
Design Notes - Updated from this obsolete 2037 design:
Camper, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Super PP, driver, 4 SD tires rear, 2 PRR front, 2 linked Lasers front, Laser back, 3 laser batteries, 4 10 pt. WG back & WH front; 133 pts. Armor: F40 R25 L25 B25 T9 U9,Acc. 5, HC 3, 7792 lbs., $39,540. [2015: the price is off, I believe, it should be $40,890]
I couldn't really keep it in the same price range.  Even then, it's really not that good, no matter what.  I did get rid of the 3 batteries because I thought the component armor was more important, no?

Name Notes - See the original.

[Update note: OMG, I put this up without actually adding the turret!  That makes this even worse thank before, so I made the turret version an option and didn't even bother trying to adjust the cost to Div50.]

Max 7800, Cost: $49,788.50.
Design Notes - Updated from this obsolete 2037 design:
Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Super PP, 6 PR tires, driver, AC front, MG with mag R&L, RL in turret, OJ with mag & MD back (linked), 5 smoke disch., Hi-Res comp.; 116 pts. Armor: F30 R20 L20 B26 T10 U10; Acc. 5, HC 2; 7199 lbs., $27,980. [2015 update: numbers are utterly off on this, my final tally is 81 lbs light, 2 sp. avail, and $31,580]

For the main entry update, I couldn't manage div30 while keeping the insane level of weapons, but I did move the AC to a turret (why else have an AC *in a van* and a different weapon in a turret?).  The IC engine was necessary to save weight.  The first option was to sacrifice a lot in order to get as much armor as possible while still having an autocannon in a turret.  Is the option's armor still too light for high-ticket battles?  There's also virtually no special accessories.

Finally, I wanted to see how this arrangement looked as a camper (because of the main weapon).  I decided to sacrifice vehicle armor for tire strength and in general that's what I've found: vehicle armor isn't as necessary as HC and tire ability.

          Impetus 2065 - Div50 Van (Updated)

Type: Van (Streamlined), Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: Sport Electric (Pwr 3000, 12dp), Tires: 6 PR Radials (8dp), Crew: Driver (no equip), Weaponry 2 linked Pulsed Twin Lasers front (2D+8, 1/0 burn), HDOJ (10/reg) back, DSP under, Weighted Accessories: nil, Unweighted Accessories: [1 total link], Dischargers: 10 total: 4 oil (FBRL) 6 smoke (2T, 2U, 1R 1L), Defenses: nil; Wheel Armor: 2 total = 2x1 pt WG rear, Component Armor 10 pts FP for (a) PP (6 sp), (b) Driver (2 sp), (c) TwLs (4 sp), (d) HDOJ (3sp), Cargo: 6 sp, 0 lbs.; Vehicle Armor: 110 pts sloped Composite Armor (2 Metal/108 Plastic): F(0/23) B(0/23) R(0/25) L(0/25) T(0/10) U(2/2); HC: 3, Acc. 5,  Top Speed 115, DM: 1, Hit Mod: -1, Weight: 7800 lbs. Max 7800, Cost: $49,999.00

Design Notes - Updated from this obsolete 2037 design:
Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Super PP, driver, 4 PR tires rear, 2 PRR front, 2 linked HL front, Hi-Res computer; 106 pts FP Plastic Armor: F20 (ram) L21 R21 B22 T7 U15; Acc. 5, HC 3, 7194 lbs., $44,510.
It's obsolete because of the PR-Radial problem. I think the numbers are a bit off anyway (my reconstruction has $40,530). There are also 16 spaces left, and virtually no reason to put this weaponry in a van.  And a ramplate. A ramplate?!  I guess I wanted to have the ram with the bumper triggers (missing from the original, hmmm).

So for the update, I took out the ramplate because please.  Then I used the Sport PP option, HLs became pulsed Twin Lasers (not sure how kosher that is but the MADHAT excel allows it, so it's legal to me. Anyway, my usual adds for un-sucking vans are (1) sloping the armor, (2) a drop-spike plate, (3) component armor everywhere possible.  In fact, all internal components are armored, meaning that when, inevitably, the outside armor is breached, everything inside (except the DSP because that's outlawed) has a cocoon of 10 pts of armor around it.  All accessories have been dropped in order to get to the Div50 tag.

Name Notes - See the original.

          Doonbuggi 2065 - Div20 OR Compact (Update)

Type: Compact, Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: OR, Engine: Medium Electric (SC) (Pwr 1540, 8dp), Tires: 4 OR Solid Tires (12dp), Crew: Driver (no equip), Weaponry HMG (10/HD) in UM turret (2D area), Weighted Accessories: rollcage, brushcutter, safety seat, HD shocks, Unweighted Accessories: SWC, HD-antilock brakes, HTM; [0 total links], Dischargers: 10 total: 4 oil (FBRL) 4 smoke (2U, 1R 1L) 2 foam (2T), Defenses: nil; Wheel Armor: 33 total = 2x10 pt WG rear, 13 pts WH front (choose), Component Armor 9 pts LRFP for (a) PP (4 sp), (b) Driver (2 sp), Cargo: 0 sp, 0.2 lbs.; Vehicle Armor: 146 pts Composite Armor (2 Metal/144 Plastic): F(0/30) B(0/30) R(0/30) L(0/30) T(0/19) U(2/5); HC: 2, Acc. 5 (HTM 10),  Top Speed 90 (67.5), DM: 1, Hit Mod: -1, Weight: 4439.8 lbs. Max 4440, Cost: $19,992.00
          • Slope Option  - Type: Compact, Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: OR, Engine: Medium Electric (SC) (Pwr 1540, 8dp), Tires: 4 OR Solid Tires (12dp), Crew: Driver (no equip), Weaponry Light Laser in UM turret (1D area, burn 1/0), Weighted Accessories: rollcage, brushcutter, safety seat, HD shocks, Unweighted Accessories: SWC, HD-antilock brakes, [0 total links], Dischargers: 10 total: 4 oil (FBRL) 6 smoke (2T 2U, 1R 1L), Defenses: nil; Wheel Armor: 39 total = 2x10 pt WG rear, 19 pts WH front (choose), Component Armor 9 pts LRFP for Driver (2 sp), Cargo: 0 sp, 1.4 lbs.; Vehicle Armor: 180 pts sloped Composite Armor (2 Metal/178 Plastic): F(0/35) B(0/35) R(0/40) L(0/40) T(0/22) U(2/6); HC: 2, Acc. 5, Top Speed 90, DM: 1, Hit Mod: -2, Weight: 4438.6 lbs. Max 4440, Cost: $19,931.00 .

          • Sloped non-OR Option  - As option 1 but with Heavy suspension, regular Solid tires, pulse the LL, remove: brushcutter, UM mounting, add: 6 pts vehicle armor, 1 pt wheel armor, SWC, HTM & Overdrive (linked), HC: 3, Acc. 5 (10 HTM/2.5 Overdrive), Top Speed 90 (67.5/110), DM: 1, Hit Mod: -2, Weight: 4438.6 lbs. Max 4440, Cost: $19,977.70 .
Design Notes - Updated from this obsolete 2037 design:
Compact, Xhvy Ch., OR-Active Sus., 4 OR Solid Tires, Large PP, Driver; VMG (20/reg) in UM turret, Roll Cage, SWC, 120 pts. plastic Armor: F20 B20 R20 L20 T20 U20; HC 2 (3 OR), Acc. 5, 4400 lbs., $19,460. [2015: this is missing something; there's 120 lbs missing, possibly from the original roll-cage rules, that would add 20 pts armor, $19,620]
It's obsolete because of the elimination of 2 sp. turrets, dagnabbit. To update it, I used the 2 best 1 sp weapons available: the HMG with HD ammo (a classic) and the far inferior Light Laser in the sloped option.  I do like trying to slope a compact because the -2 hit modifer is a beast!  I made the second option just to see if this would make a viable div20 car.  Probably not.

Name Notes - It's a dumb name.  That's what I did back then.:
