Design Notes - Updated from this obsolete 2037 design:
Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Super PP, 6 PR tires, driver, AC front, MG with mag R&L, RL in turret, OJ with mag & MD back (linked), 5 smoke disch., Hi-Res comp.; 116 pts. Armor: F30 R20 L20 B26 T10 U10; Acc. 5, HC 2; 7199 lbs., $27,980. [2015 update: numbers are utterly off on this, my final tally is 81 lbs light, 2 sp. avail, and $31,580]

For the main entry update, I couldn't manage div30 while keeping the insane level of weapons, but I did move the AC to a turret (why else have an AC *in a van* and a different weapon in a turret?).  The IC engine was necessary to save weight.  The first option was to sacrifice a lot in order to get as much armor as possible while still having an autocannon in a turret.  Is the option's armor still too light for high-ticket battles?  There's also virtually no special accessories.

Finally, I wanted to see how this arrangement looked as a camper (because of the main weapon).  I decided to sacrifice vehicle armor for tire strength and in general that's what I've found: vehicle armor isn't as necessary as HC and tire ability.

Design Notes - Update of this 2037 design:
Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., Super PP, 4 Solid tires rear, 2 PR Radials front, Driver; AC with 2 mags (30/reg) in turret, ID back, Spear MD with three mags (20/proximity fuses) back, HRTC, 2 bumper triggers (front & back), 136 pts Plastic Armor: F 30 B 20 R 25 L 25 T 21 U 15; HC 3, Acc. 5, 7199 lbs. (max 7200), $35,130.00
According to my reconstruction of this car, this has 4 vehicular spaces left over (even without the cargo).  The cost is off too - probably an error in determining all those extra mags or prox. fuses.  BTW, this is a perfect example of where the HRSWC can game-break; with that alone this goes down a fighting class.  The simple update option was not trying to optimize but using those 4 spaces better (sloping & comp. armor); the added weight from the CA was taken from the AC ammo.

Of all versions, the gas option may be the best.

Q-Naught 2037 - Div35 Station Wagon (Obsolete)

Updated here:
Station Wagon, Xtra-Heavy Chassis, Heavy Suspension, Super PP, 4 PR Tires, Driver, 2 linked HL front, 10 pts of component armor each (OBSOLETE), SWC, 131 pts Plastic Armor: F 30 B 20 R 25 L 25 T 13 U 18; HC: 3, Acc. 5, 6600 lbs., $33,870.00

Design Notes- Another missed 2037 design, likely because it's obsolete (because of the outdated Component Armor).

2065 Note: The numbers are off, because of the component armor error.  Ah well.

Name Notes - I don't understand why I named this "Q" because there's nothing hidden here.  'Naughts are normal for dangerous cars.  Note, based on my handwriting, I may have called this "Qnought" (was that a Q-bert joke?)

Armageddon III 2037 - Div35 Van (Obsolete)

Update of main design here. Revised but still obsolete write-ups: Armageddon II & Armageddon III.
Van, Xtra-Heavy Chassis, Heavy Suspension, Super PP, 4 PR Tires back, 2 PRR tires front, Driver, 3 HRs in 3sp. turret, 3x3sp rocket magazines: 12 HR total (8 links for HRs to allow different firing, in 3s and 2s), all fire simultaneously); ITL in turret, LGL to 12 rockets, HDFOJ (10/reg) left, HDFOJ (9/reg) right, link to HDFOJs, HRTC, 8 links, 7 cargo spaces 7lbs, 119 pts FP Plastic Armor: F 30 B 20 R 20 L 20 T 25 U 4;  HC: 2, Acc. 5, 7193 lbs., $33,800
  • Option 1 - replace HRs with 24 LRs, with connecting links, replace PR tires to Solid, add 35 pts armor, full load in right HDFOJ, 7198 lbs, $35,990

  • Option 2 - replace HRs with 36 MnRs, .... [all that's written down]
Design Notes - The flawed write-up here, and I see I was clever in trying to fix the design, instead of being historically accurate.

Things that would've been better: VFRP is a better system than this, except that this will allow 9d6 in one turn (but it's a good replacement for the 24 LRs).  Also, there was no HRSWC back then.  And, of course, the PRR problem.  I think I put in an IRL because I knew about it, not because I knew what it did.

Design Notes - I was looking at this 2009 design and felt it needed updating, specifically to get rid of the C/A frame, to do that effectively, I needed to go gas:
Luxury (C/A frame), XHvy Chassis, Hvy-Active Suspension, Sport PP (PC/SC), 4 Solid (FP-Radial-StB) tires, driver, 2 linked HMG (20/HD ammo) in turret, FOJ (25/reg) back, 8 dischargers (2 R,L,T,U & 1 F,B - 4 oil, 4 ice, 2 hot-smoke), cyberlink to HMG, IFE, HDHTM & overdrive (each linked to HMG & as well as HMG-FOJ link), Anti-Lock Heavy Duty Brakes, Heavy Duty Shocks, spoiler & airdam, Fake Ramplate, no paint tinted windshield; 4 bumper triggers linked to side's dischargers, 9 pts LRFP CA each around driver, PP and FOJ; driver has blended BA, 2 8 pt WH front & 2 7 pt WH front(all LRFP), 170 pts sloped plastic FPLR armor (F32 B32 R35 L35 U16 T20); Acc 10 (20), Top 122.5 (142.5 overdrive, 80 HDHTM), HC 5 (6), 6600 lbs, $86,705
I see no real reason to use the big engine option now that I've done the calculations.  And the Div35 version may not be half bad.

Name Notes - This is part of the Amber series.  Benedict is the strongest one of the brothers, so I wanted a very strong car.

Sus., 200 cid IC (Tubes/Blue/VP/Spr), 6 gal dueling tank, 4 Solid Steelbelted Radial Tires, Driver (blended BA, FP suit) & Gunner; VMG (10/incen) in turret, VMG (10/incen) front, smartlink, OG (10/FO) back, 2 HRTC, active suspension, HD-antilock brakes, HD shocks, overdrive, no-paint windshield, 10 oil/smoke dischargers, linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T) and 4 bumper triggers (also linked to that side's weapons) 40 pts WG/WH, 9 pts LRFP CA each around engine/gas tank and driver 149 pts Plastic Armor: F 30 B 30 R 30 L 30 T 15 U 14

Original Configuration Option - Luxury, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., Large PP (PC/SC), 4 Solid Radial Tires, Driver (blended BA, FP suit) & Gunner; VMG (10/incen) in turret, AC (10/incen) front, OG (10/FO) back, HD-antilock brakes, 2 TC, 10 oil/smoke dischargers, linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T) and 4 bumper triggers (also linked to that side's weapons) 25 pts WG/WH, 9 pts LRFP CA each around PP and driver 144 pts Plastic Armor: F 30 B 30 R 30 L 30 T 12 U 12, HC 4, Acc. 5, Top 92.5 Pwr 2300 6596.6 lbs. $34,767.50

Design Notes -Originally: Luxury, C/A Frame, Xhvy Ch., Hvy.-Active Sus, Large PP (PC/SC), driver & gunner, 4 SD-FP-Steel-Radial tires, AC front (10/incen), VMG in turret (20/incen), OG (10/reg) back, IFE, 2 Hires. Comp., HD-Antilock brakes; no-paint windshield, 10 pts. FP-CA around crew, 2 10 pt. FP WG/WH front/back, blended BA & FP suit for crew; 185 pts. Plastic armor: F35 B30 R40 L40 T20 U20; Acc. 5, Top 92.5, HC 5, 6596 lbs., $69,025

The main design plan was to get rid of the C/A frame, and to follow consensus that the AC is a terrible weapon in CW (and despite my heart's direction - for I know and feel that the AC should be WAY BETTER).  I also realized that gas engines are a must for the upper price divisions - same power, but lighter weight.  Yet since I haven't playtested, I have no idea if the fire problems are too prohibitive.

Name Notes - See picture.

Iapetus 2057 - Div35 Van (Galaxy, Updated)

Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., Super PP, 6 PR-Radials Tires, Driver & Gunner; AC (10/reg) in 3sp turret, 2 linked RL (10/reg) front, SS (10/reg) back, DSP under, 2 TC, 10 oil/smoke dischargers, linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T) and 4 bumper triggers (also linked to that side's weapons) 21 pts WG/WH, 9 pts LRFP CA each around PP and driver and RLs. 110 pts sloped Plastic Armor: F20 B20 R24 L24 T15 U7; HC 3 Acc. 5 Top 95 Pwr 2600 7196.6 lbs. $34,240

Design Notes -Update of this van:
Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., Super PP, driver, 2 gunners, 4 SD tires back, 2 PR tires front, AC in 3 sp. turret, 2 linked RL front, RL back, SS back, 3 targeting computers, 94 pts. Armor: F20, R17, L17, B20, T10, U10. Acc. 5, HC 2, 7191 lbs. $29,850

I've left the main weapon system, but I couldn't get the cost down to the original div30.  I looked into changing the front RLs to another AC (and add smartlinking) but that gave me too much weight, and extra space, and all the ways I'd fix that would have changed the essence of the vehicle.

Name Notes - Iapetus is a moon of Saturn.

Design Notes - This is an update of an update. I wanted to use the 3sp turret with rockets and smartlink the front weapons.  It can still have the name because its the same basic weapon system, rockets & OJ.  Kinda.

Sus., Super PP, 6 PRR Tires, Driver & Gunner; OG (10/oil with mag switch to 10/paint), in 3sp universal turret, Laser front, DSP under, 2 TC, 10 oil/smoke dischargers, linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T) & 4 bumper triggers (also linked to that side's weapons) 36 pts WG/WH, 9 pts LRFP CA each around 4 components - PP, driver, gunner, laser.  128 pts sloped Plastic Armor: F25 B25 R30 L30 T12 U6; HC 3, Acc. 5, Top 102.5, Pwr 2860, 7198.6 lbs. $32884

Camper Option - Camper, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Design Notes - An update of this:
Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Super PP, 4 SD tires back 2 PRR front, driver & gunner, 3 space UM turret, OG with magazine switch to paint, Laser front, 2 targ. comp., 158 pts plastic Armor: F30 R35 L35 B30 T18 U15. Acc. 5, HC 3, 7197 lbs., $29,600
In tinkering with this, I tried to get the space/weight requirements and it seemed better for a camper than a van, given only 2 weapon systems.

Batterstorm - Div100 Camper

Camper (sloped/streamlined), Xhvy Ch., Hvy.-Active Sus., 6 SD-FP-radial Tires, Sport PP (PC/SC), Driver; ITL & VFRP (60/AP) in 3-space turret, LGL to 60 rockets, cyberlink to ITL, 10 oil/smoke dischargers, 4 bumper triggers, 4 laser-reactive webs, HTM, Overdrive, ABS-HD brakes, HD shocks, no paint windshield, 9 pts WG back, 5 pt WH front, 9 pts LR-FP CA around PP & driver, 145 pts sloped LRFP Armor: F30 B30 R30 L30 T15 U10; HC 4, Acc. 5(10/2.5 - HTM/Overdrive), Top 120 (90/140), 7799.6 lbs., $94,012.50
  • Straight Cyberlink Option (Div80) - remove ITL & LGL, cyberlink directly to VFRP, add 3 pts armor, 7795.8 lbs, $79,710

  • Div35 Economy Option - Camper, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., 6 SD-radial Tires, Super PP, Driver; VFRP (60/AP) in 3-space turret, HRSCW to VFRP, ID (15/reg) back, 10 oil/smoke dischargers, 4 bumper triggers, 4 laser-reactive webs, 40 pts WG/WH, 9 pts LR-FP CA around PP & driver, 164 pts sloped plastic Armor: F30 B30 R38 L38 T16 U12; HC 3, Acc. 5, Top 90, 7799.4 lbs., $34,687

  • Div50 Laser Economy Option - same as economy but add ITL in turret, LGL to 60 rockets, remove 2 pts from front WH, remove 3 pts reg armor, $48,993

Design Notes - I've been thinking more and more about how much I should like the VFRP. The expensive option uses the full complement of aiming, and depending on your desired division there are options. Even the cheapest, Div35, has a 7 to hit for a potential of 6d+6 damage - and 10 shots of that! It also adds the ID for defense (I usually go with a FOJ for 2-space defense, but not when I rely on a laser). Armor is still a bit light, but them's the breaks with campers. I think I'll try this with a pickup to see if I can make it work.

Triton 2037 - Div35 Pickup (obsolete)

Updated here.

Pickup, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., 4 SD Tires back + 2 PR-Radials front, Super PP, Driver; Heavy Laser front, VMG (20/reg) in turret, Hi-Res Comp., 20 pts WG/WH, 209 pts Plastic Armor: F50 B40 R40 L40 T20 U19; HC 3, Acc. 5. 7799 lbs. $34,148
  • Ram Option- add Ramplate, FP armor, replace HR with TC, Armor: F40(ram), B40 L35 R35 U19 T20, $37,706
Combat Record - Both versions!
  • Original: 1 shot from HL, 3 hits to front left wheel.
  • Ram Option: 18 hits to front, 13 to right, hard to see the rest of hits/shots.
Design Notes - This is obsolete because of the old rule that allowed different tires for front and back with no loss of HC, in fact it was the chosen way to use the *only* radial that was allowed, PR-R. I suspect it should be improved... the attraction to make this a camper and use a 3 space turret is high, but it should probably be avoided.

Name Notes - Triton is a moon of Neptune.

Europa 2037 - Div35 Van (Galaxy)

Update here.

Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Super PP, driver, 6 SD tires, HL in turret, 4 linked OJ (R, L, BL, BR); HRSWC, 12 spaces empty; 135 pts Plastic Armor: F28 R26 L26 B25 T15 U15; Acc. 5, HC 2; 7190 lbs. $32,650

  • Option 1 - FP armor, remove HRSWC; $34,200
  • Option 2 - Like original, convert OJs to FOJs (3 with 25 shots, 1 with 20; 95 shots total); 7200 lbs, $35,175

Design Notes - This has potential so there's a 2057 update in the works. (March 20, 2014 - I updated the details and changed the HRTC to a HRSWC in the original).

Name Notes - Europa is a big moon of Jupiter.

Titus 2037 - Div35 Camper (Imperial, Obsolete)

2065 Update here.

Camper, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., Super PP, driver, 4 PR tires rear 2 PRR front, 2 linked AC front, turreted RL with mag., bumper trigger, (7 cargo spaces, 3 lb), 138 pts armor: F40 (ram), R24 L24 B25 T10 U15; Acc. 5, HC 3, 7797 lbs. $32,190

Design Notes: With such forward firepower, why have a un-aimed Rocket launcher? Whatever. Also, pretty lightly armored. It's obsolete because of the tire configuration but I don't think I'll be updating this.

Name Notes:The original name was "Totric" - based on the 4 random consonant model which I can see on the design sheet itself: T T R C.  In the 2057 write-up, I changed the name to the imperial system (first one?): Titus. According to the Wiki:
"Titus Flavius Caesar Vespasianus Augustus; (30 December 39 – 13 September 81) was Roman Emperor from 79 to 81. A member of the Flavian dynasty, Titus succeeded his father Vespasian upon his death, thus becoming the first Roman Emperor to come to the throne after his own father."

Callisto 2037 - Div35 Luxury (Galaxy)

Luxury, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Super PP, 4 SD tires, Driver (Body Armor), GG with mag front, 2 RL (R & L, linked!), MD with mag rear, ramplate, targ. comp., no paint windshield, 7 smoke dischargers, 4 bumper triggers, body armor for driver. 2 10 pt. WG rear, 164 pts. FP armor: F50 (ram) R30 L30 B30 U20 T4; Acc. 5, HC 3, 6600 lbs, $34,660

Combat record:
  • I went into combat, in Div35, in this turkey?
  • Gads. Twice!
  • 4 shots from GG, 1 from L RL, 5 from MD and rear SD,
  • Tires were hit a lot: FL 8, FR 3, BL 6, BR 8 (nothing to WG);
  • Lots of hits all around but I think I won. Was I fighting a marshmallow?
Design notes: A rolling turkey. Linked RL on either side of the car? Why not a turret, eh? And then put the GG in there! I believe I rejiggered this for 2057 because, hey, a win is a win.

Note, Callisto is a moon of Jupiter. Image below from here.

Oberon 2037 - Div35 Luxury (Galaxy)

Luxury, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Super PP, 4 SD tires, driver (in IBA), 2 linked Lasers front, SWC, 4x10 pt. wheelguards; 220 pts Plastic Armor: F60 (ram), R40 L40 B40 T10 U30; HC 2, Acc. 5, 6590 lbs., $31,600

Combat Record:
  • HITS: 2 hits to all tires (I must have rolled), 10 hits to top, 8 to U, 0 back, 0 front, 31 to Right (whoa), 45! to Left (breach),
  • PP Lasers and driver destroyed
  • lost

Design Notes - This is not a bad car, but the fact that I rolled shows what design errors I made back then. HC should be as high as possible. Also, I am a big believer in the versatility of turrets. Oh well.

Name Notes - Oberon is a moon of Uranus.

Note, this car sheet was written in Spanish; e.g. ramplate="plancha de pegar." Also, the picture is from here. It was hotlinked (linko caliente?) but that's bad practice; shame on me.

Maverick 2037 - Div35 OR Midsized (Combat)

Midsize, Xhvy Ch., OR sus., Large PP, 4 OR solids, driver, Laser in UM turret, 2 linked VMG front; active suspension, Hi-res., 136 pts. Armor: F30 R25 L25 B25 T11 U20; Acc. 5, HC 3, 5758 lbs., $34,676

Combat record
  • HITS: 18 to left, 17 to right, 14 to Underbody?!, 3 to top,
  • SHOTS: 1 shot for VMG.
  • I lost.

Design notes. Scenario car. This is another of my over-gunned designs. A laser wouldn't be enough, I needed 2 vulcans. Yeesh.
