Actinium - Div10 Compact (Elemental)

Type: Compact, Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: Medium Electric (PC & SC) (Pwr 1610, 8dp), Tires: 4 PR tires (9dp), Crew: Driver (no equip), Weaponry VFRP (30/reg) front (1Dx6 burst), Weighted Accessories: nil, Unwgt. Acces.: SWC, Dischargers: 10 total: 4 oil (FBRL) 6 foam (2T, 2U, 1R 1L),  Wheel Armor: 40 total = 2x10 pt WG rear, 2x10 pt WH front (or choose where), Component Armor 10 pts plastic for (a) PP (4 sp), Cargo: 0 sp, 1 lbs.; Vehicle Armor: 57 pts Composite (43 Metal/14 Plastic): F(8/2) B(8/2) R(11/2) L(11/2) T(2/3) U(3/3); HC: 3, Acc. 5,  Top Speed 95, DM: 1, Hit Mod: -1, Weight: 4439 lbs. Max 4440, Cost: $9,979.50
  • #1 Div15 Option - Upgrade pretty much everything: Compact, Xhvy Ch. Hvy Sus, Med. PP (PC & SC), 4 Solid tires, driver, VFRP (30/reg) front, dischargers as above with smoke instead of foam, HRSWC, HD brakes, 4 bumper triggers (linked to oil dischargers & side weapons), HTM & Overdrive (linked), 9 pts FPLR CA around PP, same WG/WH, 56 pts Composite armor (39 Metal/17 plastic): F 8/2, B 7/2, R&L 10/2, T 2/3, U 2/6; HC 3, Acc. 5 (10), Top 95 (70/115), 4436.2 lbs, $14,938.50
Design Notes - After I made Protactinium, a Div20 sedan, I wanted to make the cheapest viable VFRP car that still could have OK targeting (7 to hit is cromulent) and most of my normal Styx Motors accessories (10 dischargers, full WG/WH, as much component armor as possible). As you can see, the price was the biggest difficulty & I needed to use every trick: (a) substitute metal for plastic armor (which resulted in a great 11 pts for the sides!) (b) unmodified CA instead of my standard LRFP, (c) nearly no accessories (no bumper triggers, HTM etc), (d) changing smoke dischargers to foam (which have the effect on lasers like paint)

The Div15 option allows an upgrade on tires & targeting at the expense of less vehicle armor.

Name Notes - Actinium is much more important an element than I realized when I randomly chose Protactinium a few days ago (mainly because I was just methodically going through the end of the alphabet elements). I'm not a chemist but as very young lad I loved the periodic table. The entire concept of a list of ordered ingredients that make up the universe was perfect for my personality and burgeoning worldview. It's part of the reason I love RPGs: the organization of a world into rules.

Actinium is the first of the row of actinides, which to my then (and now) untrained eyes was both an aberration in the symmetry of the Table and a sign of rigorous study in the accuracy of the chemical world.

The element, as described in the Wiki

[This has] the symbol Ac and atomic number 89.... [and] gave the name to the actinide series, a group of 15 similar elements between actinium and lawrencium in the periodic table. It is also sometimes considered the first of the 7th-period transition metals, although lawrencium is less commonly given that position. Together with polonium, radium, and radon, actinium was one of the first non-primordial radioactive elements to be isolated.

A soft, silvery-white radioactive metal, actinium reacts rapidly with oxygen and moisture in air .... The name actinium originates from the Ancient Greek aktis, aktinos (ακτίς, ακτίνος), meaning beam or ray."

There is no thematic connection between the element and the car design except in the relationship to protactinium.

Image of a 1968 Ferrari Dino 206 GT from here. I chose to include the earliest covered Ferrari image available because, as stated above, this is meant to be a precursor to Protactinium.

Molybdenum - Div10 Sedan

Type: Sedan, Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: Large Electric (PC) (Pwr 2100, 10 dp), Tires: 4 PR (reg, 9 dp), Crew: Driver (no equip) & Gunner (no equip), Weaponry 2 HR front (3D burst), 2 linked SD (BR & BL) (10/reg) & SS (10/reg) linked to SD, Weighted Accessories: nil, Unwgt. Acces.:  [2 total links], Dischargers: none, Wheel Armor: 8 pts total  (choose where), Component Armor 10 pts reg plastic for (a) PP (5 sp), (b) Driver only (2 sp), Cargo: 0 sp, 2 lbs.; Vehicle Armor: 57pts Composite (53 Metal/4 Plastic): F(13/0) B(12/0) R(12/0) L(12/0) T(2/2) U(2/2); HC: 3, Acc. 5,  Top Speed 90, DM: 1, Hit Mod: 0, Weight: 6118 lbs. Max 6120, Cost: $9,987.00

Design Notes - This was a design concept, to go with my new focus on Sedans, to make a decent Div10. So, it's, uh, decent.

The cons: nearly 0 offensive weapons; any 'kills' would need to come from indirect reactions to the dropped weapons.

The pros: very heavy armor; not sure how many Div10 weapons will penetrate 12 pts of metal.

Name Notes - Random element, but I've always liked the name. From the Wiki:
Molybdenum is a chemical element with the symbol Mo and atomic number 42. The name is from Neo-Latin molybdaenum, from Ancient Greek Μόλυβδος molybdos, meaning lead, since its ores were confused with lead ores.

The counter-picture is of the Mazda 5, from here. I realize I've been just swiping the free pix from that website and on my honor I'll try to give the credits if I can remember whereforoutfrom they are from

Mercury 2065 - Div10 OR Subcompact (Galaxy, Updated)

Type: Subcompact, Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: OR, Engine: Small Electric (PC & SC) (Pwr 920, 5dp), Tires: 4 OR-Solids (12dp), Crew: Driver (no equip); Weaponry LMG (20/expl.) front, Weighted Accessories: brushcutter, Unwgt. Acces.: SWC, HTM, [0 total links], Dischargers: 10 total: 4 oil (FBRL) 4 smoke (2U, 1R 1L), 2 Foam (2T), Defenses: 4 bumper triggers linked to Oil Disch; Wheel Armor: 22 total = 2x10 pt WG rear, 2x1 pt WH front, Component Armor 9 pts LRFP for Driver (2 sp), Cargo: 0 sp, 2.4 lbs.; Vehicle Armor: 70 pts Composite (2 Metal/68 Plastic): F(0/12) B(0/12) R(0/15) L(0/15) T(0/10) U(2/4); HC: 3 (OR 3), Acc. 5 (10),  Top Speed 90 (67.5), DM: 2/3, Hit Mod: -1, Weight: 2757.6 lbs. Max 2760, Cost: $9,898.00

  • Roll Cage Option - Type: Subcompact, Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: OR, Engine: Small Electric (PC & SC) (Pwr 920, 5dp), Tires: 4 OR-Solids (12dp), Crew: Driver (no equip); Weaponry LMG (19/reg.) front, Weighted Accessories: roll-cage, brushcutter, Unwgt. Acces.: SWC, HD brakes, [0 total links], Dischargers: 10 total: 4 oil (FBRL) 3 smoke (1U, 1R 1L), 2 Foam (1U, 2T), Defenses: 4 bumper triggers linked to Oil Disch; Wheel Armor: 8 total = 2x4 pt WG rear, Component Armor nil, Cargo: 0 sp, 0.5 lbs.; Vehicle Armor: 70 pts Composite (2 Metal/68 Plastic): F(0/12) B(0/12) R(0/15) L(0/15) T(0/10) U(2/4); HC: 3 (OR 3), Acc. 5,  Top Speed 90, DM: 2/3, Hit Mod: -1, Weight: 2759.5 lbs. Max 2760, Cost: $9,988.00 .

  • Option 2 - same as roll cage option; replace roll-cage with FE; $9,388.00
Design Notes - Updated from this 2037 design:
Subcompact, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., OR suspension, Medium PP, driver, 4 OR solids, MG front, SWC; 78 pts FP armor: F24 R15 L15 B20 T2 U2; Acc. 10 HC 2 (HC3 in 2063), 2760 lbs., $9566 (listed, really its $9,216.00).
At first it appears to be such a simple enough design (subcompact with an MG, gotcha) that it may not need updated.  But where's the fun in that?  It's possibly why I decided on a LMG with explosive ammo - i.e. just to not make this car a cliche.  Since it's OR, I added the brushcutter.  In order to make room/weight for the standard upgrades (WG, disch., CA) I reduced the engine from Medium to Light, accepting the reduction in acceleration, and offseting that with HTM (can't be 'Mercury' without being fast).

Name Notes - The planet Mercury.

Luna 2065 - D10 Light Cycle (Galaxy)

Type: Light Cycle (C/A frame), Chassis: Cycle, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: 10 cid IC engine (Tubes/Blue/VP), 3 gal. Heavy Duty tank (4dp), Tires: 2 FP-PRs (8dp), Crew: Driver (no equip), Weaponry HMG (9/HD) front (2D area), Weighted Accessories: nil, Unwgt. Acces.: HD brakes, Overdrive, [0 total links], Vehicle Armor: 12 pts: F(6) B(6); HC: 3, Acc. 15 (Overdrive 7.5),  Top Speed 80 (100), MPG: 80, Range: 240, DM: 1/3, Hit Mod: -2, Weight: 797 lbs. Max 800, Cost: $9,830.00

Design Notes - The idea was to make a light cycle with a HMG with HD ammo.  That required the smallest possible engine, comparatively low armor, etc.  Without playtesting, I've decided that that cycles should have C/A frames

Name Notes - In making a master list of the galaxy cars I realize I didn't have one for our moon (although I have the distinct memory of making one back in the day).

    Bergelmir 2065 - Div15/10 Sedan (Galaxy)

Type: Sedan, Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: Large (PC) (Pwr 2100, 10dp),  Tires: 4 PR Tires (9dp), Crew: Driver (no equip), Weaponry: 2 liked RR (10/reg) front (2D burst), SS (10/reg) back, Weighted Accessories: nil, Unweighted Accessories: nil, [1 total link], Dischargers: nil, Defenses: nil; Wheel Armor: nil, Component Armor:  Power Plant = 10 pts over 5 spaces, Driver = 10 pts over 2 spaces, Cargo: No space, 5 lbs,  Vehicle Armor: 82 pts sloped Composite (42 Metal/40 Plastic): F(10/5) B(10/5) R(10/5) L(10/5) T(0/15) U(2/5); HC: 3, Acc. 5,  Top Speed 90, Cruising: 54, DM: 1, Dam Mod: -1, Weight: 6115 lbs. Max 6120, Cost: $12,971.00
    • Div 10 Option - Sedan, Heavy Chassis, Heavy Sus., Large PP (2000 pwr), 4 HD tires, driver, 2 linked RL front (10/reg), JD (10/reg) rear, 10 pts Comp Armor around driver (2sp) & PP (5sp), 51 pts sloped composite armor (41 Metal/10 Plastic): F(10/0) B(9/0) R(10/0) L(10/0) T(0/6) U(2/4), HC 3, Acc 5, Top 92.5, 5610 lbs, $9877.50

Design Notes - I tried to make a decent Div10 sedan but I found that to make this actually usable I didn't feel good about taking too much out, as can be seen with the hideous div10 option (which may actually be different enough to not be the same car, although it's been a long time since I had a Div10 duel so who knows).

Name Notes - From the Wiki: "Bergelmir (/bɛərˈjɛlmɪər/ bair-YEL-meer) or Saturn XXXVIII (38) (provisional designation S/2004 S 15) is a natural satellite of Saturn. ... It was named in April 2007 after Bergelmir, a giant from Norse mythology and the grandson of Ymir, the primordial giant. Bergelmir and his wife alone among their kind were the only survivors of the enormous deluge of blood from Ymir's wounds when he was killed by Odin and his brothers at the dawn of time. Bergelmir then became the progenitor of a new race of giants."

Max 2760, Cost: $4,985.00

    • Div 10 Option - Type: Subcompact, Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: Small (PC & SC) (Pwr 920, 5dp), Tires: 4 HD Tires (6dp), Crew: Driver (no equip) Weaponry: RL (10/AP) front (2D+2),  Weighted Accessories: none, Unweighted Accessories: HRSWC, HTM, [0 links], Dischargers: 10 dischargers: 4 oil (FBRL) 6 smoke (2T, 2U, 1R 1L), Defenses: Smoke Dischargers linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T; covering tires of those sides as well); 4 bumper triggers (to oil & also linked to that side's weapons); Wheel Armor: 2x10 pt WG rear, 2x10 pt WH front, Component Armor: none Cargo: none; 98 pts Plastic Armor: F 20 B 20 R 20 L 20 T 9 U 9;  HC: 4, Acc. 5 (HTM 10), Top Speed 90 (67.5), Cruising: 54 Weight: 2760 lbs. Max 2760, Cost: $9,653.00

Design Notes -This was in my archive folder dated Nov 20, 2012 under the name "Pocket Rocket."  I kept it from the blog because I guess I wanted to reduce it to Div5.  But I've actually made other Div5 Subcompact with RLs: Weywot and the Nunam option.  As it stands, the primary entry has to be in my 3Q Division ($7500 and under).

Jan 3, 2014 Update: I noticed the Div5 version was unchanged from the original.  Oops.  While re-entering the data, I realized I could make this Div5 by dropping a point in suspension etc., hence Option 2.

Name Notes - Hydra is a moon of Pluto.  How did I not use this name yet?  Considering it's the trade name of the standard anti-tank rocket of the US military.  About the moon: "Hydra is the outermost known natural satellite of Pluto. It was discovered along with Nix in June 2005,  ... The name is that of the Hydra, the nine-headed serpent which battled Hercules in Greco-Roman mythology. The nine heads of Hydra are a reference to Pluto's tenure as the ninth planet; its initial, H, refers to the Hubble Telescope which discovered Hydra"

    Cupid - Div15 Subcompact (Galaxy)

Type: Subcompact Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: Small (PC & SC) (Pwr 920, 5dp), Tires: 4 Radial-Solid Tires (11dp), Crew: Driver (blended BA); Weaponry:  Pulsed Light Laser front (1D+1 area), Weighted Accessories: none, Unweighted Accessories: SWC, [2 total links], Dischargers: 10 dischargers: 4 oil (FBRL) 6 smoke (2T, 2U, 1R 1L), Defenses: Smoke Dischargers linked to 2 laser reactive webs (R, L; covering tires of those sides as well); 4 bumper triggers (to oil & also linked to that side's weapons); Wheel Armor: 2x10 pt WG rear, 2x10 pt WH front, Component Armor:  none, Cargo: No space, no weight; 67 pts sloped Plastic Armor: F 15 B 15 R 15 L 15 T 3 U 4; HC: 5, Acc. 5, Top Speed 90, Cruising: 54 Weight: 2760 lbs. Max 2760, Cost: $14,860.70

    • Div 20 Option - Frame is C/A; add 100 pts vehicular armor; $19,220.70
    • Div 10 Option - Type: Subcompact Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: Small (PC & SC) (Pwr 920, 5dp), Tires: 4 Solid Tires (12dp), Crew: Driver (no eqip); Weaponry:  Light Laser front (1D area), Weighted Accessories: none, Unweighted Accessories: SWC, [3 total links], Dischargers: 10 dischargers: 4 oil (FBRL) 6 smoke (2T, 2U, 1R 1L), Defenses: Smoke Dischargers linked to 3 laser reactive webs (F, R, L; covering tires of those sides as well); 4 bumper triggers (to oil & also linked to that side's weapons); Wheel Armor: 2x10 pt WG rear, 2x10 pt WH front, Component Armor:  none, Cargo: No space, no weight; 80 pts sloped Plastic Armor: F 20 B 20 R 16 L 16 T 4 U 4; HC: 4, Acc. 5, Top Speed 90, Cruising: 54 Weight: 2760 lbs. Max 2760, Cost: $9,918.00

Design Notes -I had this in my draft pile dated Sept 5, 2010.  I suspect my basic idea was to get a pulsed LL in a subcompact.  LLs offer the best accuracy, damage, and weight distribution with unlimited ammo.  Sadly, subcompacts carry such poor armor that this can remain only a concept car.

Name Notes - Cupid is a very small moon of Uranus. According to the Wiki: "It was discovered by Mark R. Showalter and Jack J. Lissauer in 2003 ... [and] was named after a character in William Shakespeare's play Timon of Athens.  It is the smallest of inner Uranian satellites, crudely estimated to be only about 18 km in diameter."

    Bloorib 2037 - Div10 Station Wagon

    Update here:
    Station Wagon, Standard Chassis, Light Suspension, Large PP, 4 PR Tires, Driver, ATG front, 2 HRs left, 2 HRs right, 135 pts Plastic Armor: F 30 B 30 R 25 L 25 T 10 U 15; HC: 1 Acc. 5, 5500 lbs. (max 5500), $9,600.00
    • Option - upgade to Heavy Chassis, 7 cargo spaces with 550 lbs capacity, $10,000

Design Notes - I didn't write this up back in 2057 and I assume it's because it stinks.

Name Notes - This was named with my old system of using 3-4 random consonants and then adding vowels afterward.  It's an embarrassing system, but 6 years later, I'm OK with my younger, dorkier self.

    Venus 2037 - Div10 Compact

Compact, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., 4 PR Tires, Large PP, Driver; RL (10/reg) front, SS (10/reg) back, SWC, BA for driver, 254 pts plastic Armor: F70 B45 R50 L50 T19 U20; HC 3, Acc. 5, 4439 lbs. $9,952

Design Notes - Whenever it has 2037 in the title, it's one of my original designs from back when I was a teenager.  I found my files a bit ago and I'm slowly putting the cars up here with a scan of the original car picture.  As I had trouble finding good names, I would use shortcuts, and "galaxy" was my earliest theme.  I designed a car for each planet and this is the original "Venus"

Ironically, when I first started this blog, I had only half of my original car files, so I didn't have a Venus.  As such, I decided to make a new one, and that's found here and then an update of that (a compact with a turreted HMG) here.

I'm unsure if this car actually accurate, but I'll save that for the updating.

    Coaster 2059 (AADA Fix) - Div10 Compact

Intro - This first update is from a draft post, Sept 29, 2009; as part of the project to update the AADA Vehicle guides.  This is from the AADA Vehicle Guide #1, "Coaster Deluxe."

    Original - Compact, Xhvy Chassis, Heavy Sus., Med PP, 4 SD tires, driver; MG (20/reg) front, MD (10/reg) back, 1 extra space, 225 pts Plastic Armor: F45 B45 R40 L40 T30 U25; HC 3, Acc 5, 4200 lbs, $9825
    • Original Notes - The original was designed with cargo space, and since this is the oldest of schools, there were no engine options; once PC/SC is allowed, a Med PP can carry the max weight.

    2059 Update: Compact, Xhvy Chassis, Hvy Sus., Medium PP, 4 SD tires, driver; MG (20/reg) front, MD (10/reg) back, 2 smoke/oil dischargers; 10 pts FP CA around driver; 215 pts platic Armor: F45 B45 R40 L40 T25 U20; HC 3, Acc. 5, Top 90, 4190 lbs, $9995

    • Design Notes - This was my first attempt back in 2059 (2009, ahem).  It's fine.  My first impression 4 years later was to add power to the engine and a turret, because why not with a base 1 space weapon?  I was about to add a turreted HMG, but that's already the Venus series (here and here), and my commitment to 'weapon system as identity' meant I couldn't go there.
    2063 Update 1: Compact, Xhvy Chassis, Hvy Sus., Medium PP (SC), 4 PR tires, driver; MG (20/reg) in 1sp turret, MD (10/reg) back, 10 dischargers: 4 oil (FBRL) 6 smoke (2T, 2U, 1R 1L); 37 pts total for Wheelguards/Wheelhubs (you choose where), 10 pts CA around driver; 77 pts Composite Armor (35 LR Metal/42 Plastic): F 8/4 B 8/4 R 8/5 L 8/5 T 1/16 U 2/8; HC 3, Acc. 5, Top 90, 4440 lbs, $9967.25
    • Design Notes - OK, so there what to like here. LR Metal armor may or may not be necessary in Div10, but it really is cheap ($113.75 difference), I didn't go to LR CA though because I just felt 1 pt matters there and there's very few lasers in div10.  I'm not sure if I can keep Solid tires and keep this a Div10, but that should be an ultimate goal.
    2063 Update 2: Compact, Xhvy Chassis, Hvy Sus., Medium PP (SC), 4 PR tires, driver; HMG (15/HD) front, MD (10/reg) back, 10 dischargers: 5 oil or smoke, 5 foam or sand; 36 pts total for Wheelguards/Wheelhubs (you choose where), 10 pts CA around driver; 53 pts Composite Armor (39 Metal/14 Plastic): F 8/0 B 8/0 R 9/0 L 9/0 T 3/7 U 2/7; HC 3, Acc. 5, Top 90, Pwr 1540, 4438 lbs, $9984.50
    • Design Notes - This was an attempt to get an HMG and to do that I dropped the turret, and I like the lethality and variation but I'd still like to get some solid tires in here..
    2063 Update 3: Compact, Xhvy Chassis, Hvy Sus., Medium PP (PC), 4 Solid tires, driver; HMG (10/HD) front, MD (10/reg) back, no dischargers: 36 pts total for Wheelguards/Wheelhubs (you choose where), 10 pts CA around driver; 52 pts Composite Armor (38 Metal/14 Plastic): F 8/0 B 8/0 R 9/0 L 9/0 T 3/7 U 1/7; HC 3, Acc. 5, Top 90, Pwr 1470, 4408 lbs (max 4410), $9977.00
    • Design Notes - OK, so here's 1 version of a standard 'Coaster' with an HMG; I couldn't keep the dischargers though.
    2063 Update 4, Div15: Compact, Xhvy Chassis, Hvy Sus., Medium PP (PC & SC), 4 Solid tires, driver; HMG (15/HD) front, MD (10/napalm) back, SWC, safety seat, HTM, HD brakes, 10 dischargers: 4 oil (FBRL) 6 smoke (2T, 2U, 1R 1L): smoke linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T; covering tires of those sides as well) and 4 bumper triggers (to oil & also linked to that side's weapons); 5 total links, 36 pts total for Wheelguards/Wheelhubs (you choose where), 9 pts LRFP CA around driver; 48 pts Composite Armor (35 LR Metal/13 Plastic): F 8/0 B 8/0 R 8/0 L 8/0 T 1/5 U 2/8; HC 3, Acc. 5 (HTM 10), Top 95 (70), Pwr 1610, 4436.6 lbs (max 4440), $14,455.25
    • Design Notes - This is going to be the last.  As you can see, it's really a glorified div10 car.  The LR armor does matter more in Div15, as with all the other defensive methods.

    Thrym - Div5, Div10 Compact (Galaxy)

Design Notes -This was in my draft pile dated Oct 8, 2010 and temp named "metal div5" which gives the 'high concept' behind the design.  In the Div5 options, I think it's probably better to have an RR than a RL with a I also felt committed to using the HRSWC on the Div10 versions, even at the expense of armor; I need to test the efficacy of that.

Name Notes -Thrymr is a moon of Saturn discovered in 2000, one of the Norse group, named after the King of the Frost Giants. Originally the moon was named Thrym, which I know from the two sources below, so that's what I'm using:

    From Dungeons & Dragons:

and to a lesser extent, from Marvel pic from here.

    • Div 15 Option - Compact, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., Med PP (SC), 4 Solid Tires, Driver; MML (10/incen) in 1sp. turret, 2 linked MML (10/incen) front, smartlink, TC, HD-brakes, HTM, overdrive, 10 oil/smoke dischargers, linked to 4 bumper triggers (also linked to that side's weapons) 40 pts WG/WH, 9 pts LRFP CA around driver 89 pts composite armor (24 Metal/65 Plastic): F 5/8 B 5/8 R 7/5 L 7/5 T 0/14 U 0/15; HC 3, Acc. 5 (HTM 10/Overdrive 2.5) Top 90 (67.5/110) Pwr 1540 4439.6 lbs. $14,900.00

    • Div 10 Option - Compact, Std Ch., Hvy. Sus., Med PP, 4 PR Tires, Driver; MML (10/reg) in 1sp. turret, 2 linked MML (10/reg) front, smartlink, TC, 10 oil/smoke dischargers, 33 pts WG/WH, 43 pts sloped composite armor (16 Metal/27 Plastic): F 3/4 B 3/4 R 5/4 L 5/4 T 0/6 U 0/5; HC 3, Acc. 5, Top 97.5 Pwr 1400 3699 lbs. $9,988.10

Design Notes -This is an update of an obsolete design:
Compact, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Medium PP, 4 PR tires, driver, RL front, RL in turret, 191 pts. Armor: F50 R35 L35 B36 T15 U20; Acc. 5, HC 3, 4196 lbs., $9883
It's obsolete because of the 2sp turret, and I'm wondering if I had the right engine (I guess 4200 lbs could use a Medium PP).  The update jacked it up to div18 (which most people use as div20).  I guess it's the PR tires. Anyway, I provided a number of options, and the div10 one took the most ingenuity, given I was committed to keeping the entire weapon system intact: 3 MMLs with a smartlink and targeting computer.

It's the Div10 design process that keeps me committed to using the Excel designer (from the fine folks at MADHAT) - the ability to manipulate the armor numbers, and balance this with that, is best accomplished with a spreadsheet.  The online ones don't help in the same way (let alone my 30 years ago system of filler paper and a watch calculator).

    Prowler 2057 - Div10 Compact

    Compact, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., Medium PP (PC/SC), 4 Solid Tires, Driver (with BA); RR (10/reg) front, bumper trigger front, 40 pts WG/WH, 9 pts LRFP CA each around PP and driver; 69 pts composite Armor (39 Metal/30 Plastic): F 8/3 B 8/3 R 11/3 L 11/3 T 0/7 U 1/11; HC 3 Acc. 5 Top 95 Pwr 1610 4438.8 lbs. $9,982.50

    • 2063 Update  - Compact, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., Medium PP (SC), 4 Solid Tires, Driver; RR (10/reg) front, SWC 10 foam dischargers linked to 4 bumper triggers (also linked to that side's weapons), 40 pts WG/WH, 10 pts std CA each around PP and driver; 66 pts composite Armor (38 Metal, 28 Plastic): F 9/2 B 9/2 R 10/2 L 10/2 T 0/7 U 1/13; HC 3 Acc. 5 Top 90 Pwr 1540 4438 lbs. $9,999.00

Design Notes -In my draft pile dated Oct 5 2010.  I realized after looking at it that it was actually an update of the veteran (near stock) Prowler:
Compact, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus. Medium PP, driver, 4 SD tires, RR front, SD rear, (includes BA for driver); Plastic Armor: F50, R40, L40, B33, T15, U15; Acc. 5, HC 3, 4198 lbs. $9,830

This draft design, called "Amateur Night", even had the BA for the driver.  I like the update because it's something to have a SWC, dischargers and CA in a low division. The foam grenades are a cheap paint substitute (they block shots like paint, but do they coat the car?)

Design Notes - Update of this compact, rendered obsolete by a 2sp turret in a compact:
Compact, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Large PP, 4 PR tires, Driver; 2 space Rocket Platform with MFR, RL (10/incen.) front, SD (10/reg) back, ramplate; 182 pts plastic armor: F50 (ram) B30 RL 40 T9 U15; HC 3, Acc 5, 4439 lbs, $9,991

At first, I not only couldn't keep this under 15 for my tastes, let alone 10. But with metal, I may have made it OK.

Design Notes - This is another attempt to make a Div10 Midsized, this time with a turret.

Name Notes - Another small moon of Jupiter.

    Adrastea - Div10 Midsized (Galaxy)

Midsized, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., 4 PR Tires, Large PP, Driver; ATG (9/reg) front, 10 pts CA around driver; 51 pts Metal, 17 Inner Plastic Sloped Armor: F12/0 B11/0 R14/0 L14/0 T0/6 U0/11; HC 3, Acc. 5, Top 90, Pwr 2000, 5756 lbs., $9993.20

    • Targeting Option - downgrade tires to HD, ATG has 10 shots, SWC, downgrade to 8 pts CA around driver; Armor is now 55 pieces sloped Metal, F12 B11 R14 L14 T2 U2; 5742 lbs, $10,000

    • High Damage Option - Midsized, Hvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., 4 PR Tires, Large PP, Driver; ATG (10/APFSDS), SWC, 9 pts reg CA around driver; 41 pts sloped Metal armor F9 B8 L10 R10 T2 U2; HC 3, Acc 5, Top 97.5, Pwr 2000, 5276 lbs, $9994

Design Notes - This is another attempt to make a Div10 Midsized. I added a higher-damage, decent to-hit option.  I needed to use metal armor to keep the costs lower, 'struth.

Name Notes - Another small moon of Jupiter.

    Bowip 2057 - Div10 Compact (Updated)

    Compact, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., 4 PR Tires, Large PP, Driver; VMG (15/reg) front, SD (10/reg) back, 10 oil/smoke dischargers; 40 pts plastic WG/WH; 15 pts Metal, 121 pts plastic Armor: F 5/20 B 4/25 R 3/25 L 3/25 T 0/11 U 0/15, HC 3, Top 110, Acc. 5, 4436 lbs. $9985.50

Design Notes - An update of this 2037 design. Even though I wanted to jettison the SD, I felt that to be a true 'update' I needed to retain the original weapon-systems and body type. Arbitrary, maybe, but the decision was colored by the realization that there must be thousands of Div10 compacts with a single VMG. Throw in a SD and it's not derivative (or plagiarism, heh) I was able to employ the principle that when you have more weight than cost available, go with metal armor.

    Bowip 2037 - Div10 Compact

    Update here.

    Compact, Xhvy Ch., Imp. Sus., 4 PR Tires, Large PP, Driver; VMG (20/reg) front, SD (10/reg) back, 227 pts Armor: F60 B50 R40 L40 T22 U15, HC 2, Acc. 5, 4437 lbs. $9951

Design Notes - Why would I 'save money' - especially in Div10 (this ain't 5!) - with an improved suspension?! That's $200, to get the highest possible HC. HC is more valuable than armor.

Name Notes - This was named because I randomly determined three consonants, B W P, and then I added vowels. Back as a teenager, this was my creativity. Sorry.

    Cataract 2037 - Div10 Compact

    Updated here.

Compact, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Large PP, 4 PR Tires, driver; RL (20/incen) front, ramplate; 210 pts Plastic armor: F50 (ram) RLB40 T15 U25; HC 3, Acc. 5, 4439 lbs., $9660

Design Notes - Surely this could be improved; it's not crazy to make this a better ram vehicle, maybe take out the useless extra magazine and install rocket engines.

Name Notes -  This was originally unnamed.
