  • Gunner, Option 1 - Add gunner (who gets the HRTC), add SWC for driver, for armor is unsloped, remove 15 pts vehicle armor: $49,755.00

  • Div35, Option 2 -  as first option 1, but remove all TL & LGL, remove 1 pt WG, remove laser reactive webs, remove PC from engine, remove UM from turret, replace SWC with HRTC, add 15 pts vehicle armor: Top Speed 90 (67.5/110.0), DM: 1, Hit Mod: 0, Weight: 6593.6 lbs. Max 6600, Cost: $34,995.00
Design Notes - Sparked by my remake of Thundernaught, and its mutli RL design.  I wanted to replace the RLs with VFRPs to see if it would work.  I think it's too many weapons and not enough crew.

Name Notes - Fenrir is a moon of Saturn and "Fenrir was named after Fenrisulfr, a giant wolf from Norse mythology, father of Hati and Skoll, son of Loki, destined to break its bonds for Ragnarök."

I couldn't really keep it in the same price range.  Even then, it's really not that good, no matter what.  I did get rid of the 3 batteries because I thought the component armor was more important, no?

Name Notes - See the original.

[Update note: OMG, I put this up without actually adding the turret!  That makes this even worse thank before, so I made the turret version an option and didn't even bother trying to adjust the cost to Div50.]

Max 7800, Cost: $49,788.50.
Design Notes - Updated from this obsolete 2037 design:
Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Super PP, 6 PR tires, driver, AC front, MG with mag R&L, RL in turret, OJ with mag & MD back (linked), 5 smoke disch., Hi-Res comp.; 116 pts. Armor: F30 R20 L20 B26 T10 U10; Acc. 5, HC 2; 7199 lbs., $27,980. [2015 update: numbers are utterly off on this, my final tally is 81 lbs light, 2 sp. avail, and $31,580]

For the main entry update, I couldn't manage div30 while keeping the insane level of weapons, but I did move the AC to a turret (why else have an AC *in a van* and a different weapon in a turret?).  The IC engine was necessary to save weight.  The first option was to sacrifice a lot in order to get as much armor as possible while still having an autocannon in a turret.  Is the option's armor still too light for high-ticket battles?  There's also virtually no special accessories.

Finally, I wanted to see how this arrangement looked as a camper (because of the main weapon).  I decided to sacrifice vehicle armor for tire strength and in general that's what I've found: vehicle armor isn't as necessary as HC and tire ability.

Name Notes - See the original.

      Impetus 2065 - Div50 Van (Updated)

Type: Van (Streamlined), Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: Sport Electric (Pwr 3000, 12dp), Tires: 6 PR Radials (8dp), Crew: Driver (no equip), Weaponry 2 linked Pulsed Twin Lasers front (2D+8, 1/0 burn), HDOJ (10/reg) back, DSP under, Weighted Accessories: nil, Unweighted Accessories: [1 total link], Dischargers: 10 total: 4 oil (FBRL) 6 smoke (2T, 2U, 1R 1L), Defenses: nil; Wheel Armor: 2 total = 2x1 pt WG rear, Component Armor 10 pts FP for (a) PP (6 sp), (b) Driver (2 sp), (c) TwLs (4 sp), (d) HDOJ (3sp), Cargo: 6 sp, 0 lbs.; Vehicle Armor: 110 pts sloped Composite Armor (2 Metal/108 Plastic): F(0/23) B(0/23) R(0/25) L(0/25) T(0/10) U(2/2); HC: 3, Acc. 5,  Top Speed 115, DM: 1, Hit Mod: -1, Weight: 7800 lbs. Max 7800, Cost: $49,999.00

Design Notes - Updated from this obsolete 2037 design:
Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Super PP, driver, 4 PR tires rear, 2 PRR front, 2 linked HL front, Hi-Res computer; 106 pts FP Plastic Armor: F20 (ram) L21 R21 B22 T7 U15; Acc. 5, HC 3, 7194 lbs., $44,510.
It's obsolete because of the PR-Radial problem. I think the numbers are a bit off anyway (my reconstruction has $40,530). There are also 16 spaces left, and virtually no reason to put this weaponry in a van.  And a ramplate. A ramplate?!  I guess I wanted to have the ram with the bumper triggers (missing from the original, hmmm).

So for the update, I took out the ramplate because please.  Then I used the Sport PP option, HLs became pulsed Twin Lasers (not sure how kosher that is but the MADHAT excel allows it, so it's legal to me. Anyway, my usual adds for un-sucking vans are (1) sloping the armor, (2) a drop-spike plate, (3) component armor everywhere possible.  In fact, all internal components are armored, meaning that when, inevitably, the outside armor is breached, everything inside (except the DSP because that's outlawed) has a cocoon of 10 pts of armor around it.  All accessories have been dropped in order to get to the Div50 tag.

Design Notes - Gerard (see below) was the strongest member of the family so I wanted a very strong vehicle, hence a pickup with metal armor and a roll-cage.  I put this at Div50 because the owner can customize how to drop $173 (maybe no bumper triggers? 2 Laser webs?)

Name Notes - Part of the Amber series of cars, named after the most moral and strongest Prince of Amber, and half-brother of Corwin.

Design Notes -In my draft files under this name, dated Nov 14, 2012.  For the primary entry, I changed the system to allow for the Styx Laser Paint Array. Also, even though the final price is 579$ over the div50 limit, I'm not going to tweak it any more to fit that arbitrary cut off - the eventual driver can do that in whatever way they want.  Same thing for the div30.

Anyway, I like this car - there's a decent weapon system with a lot of weight left over for decent armor as well as many safety doodads: full 10 pt WG/WH, rollcage, safety seat, IFE.   This may actually be a decent "touring" car for going town to town. except for the RR's limited ammo... so much so, that I decided to now make the "touring" version.

2063 Update - Heavy Cycle (C/A frame), Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Design Notes - From my draft pile, dated Oct 11, 2009.  A Div50 cycle?  Whatever.  But I will say that C/A frames seem to be perfectly fine for cycles, since they'll get trashed with rams/rolls anyway.

Name Notes - Albiorix is a moon of Saturn, part of the "Gallic group".  Albiorix (which sounds like a Asterix character) is, according to the Wiki:
It was named in August 2003 for Albiorix, "a Gallic giant who was considered to be the king of the world." The name is known from an inscription found near the French town of Sablet which identifies him with the Roman god Mars (an interpretatio romana).

      • 2063 Update 1 - Pickup, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. • 2063 EWP Option  - Pickup, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., 200 cid IC (Tubes/Blue/VP/Spr), 6 gal dueling gas tank,  6 Solid Radial Tires, Driver (with impact armor); ramplate, 2 linked SAMs with mag (2/AP) in 2sp Rocket EWPs facing forward, EWP ejection system, SWC, active suspension, roll-cage, safety seat, spoiler & airdam, HD-Antilock brakes, HD shocks, overdrive, 10 oil/smoke dischargers, linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T) and 4 bumper triggers (also linked to that side's weapons), 39 pts WG/WH, 9 pts LRFP CA each around PP and driver 86 pts sloped Composite Armor (34 Metal/52 Plastic): F 10/10 (ram) BLR 8/6 T 0/9 U 0/15  HC 4 (5) Acc. 20 (overdrive 10) Top 75 with EWP, 85 without (overdrive 95/105) MPG 34 Range 204 7798.4 lbs. $50,687.35
Design Notes - This was in my draft pile dated Oct 15, 2007 and temporarily named "Metal Test."  As a ram car, there's some glimmerings of possibility, but I didn't really play as a rammer, so I don't know what the best designs would be.  But there are obvious problems: HC at 2, ahem.  PR tires in general.

The "big idea" I had was the SAM for ramming.  Basically, the 11 to hit would be offset by the point blank range.  Except it's still a 7!  And 1 shot (in a pickup, where space is premium) Ah well, I should playtest.

I also think that pickups in general can use EWPs effectively.  It may not make sense for ramcars given the problems with speed.

Name Notes - Pandora is a moon of Saturn.  And, she had a bad box...

Sus., Sport PP, 6 PRR Tires, Driver; 2 linked RL (10/reg) front, 2 linked MFR (reg) back, ITL in 0sp turret, LGL to 32 rockets, DSP under, HRSWC to ITL, HTM, HD-antilock brakes, no-paint windshield, 10 oil/smoke dischargers, linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T) and 4 bumper triggers (also linked to that side's weapons) 21 pts WG/WH, 9 pts LRFP CA around PP and driver; 173 pts sloped FP Plastic Armor: F36 B36 R40 L40 T10 U11; HC 3, Acc. 5 (10), Top 115 (85), Pwr 3300, 7199.4 lbs., $49738

Design Notes - An update of this van:
Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Super PP, 6 PR tires, driver, 2 linked RL front, 2 linked MFR rear with TL, LGL to rear rockets; targ. Comp. 200 pts. Armor: F50 R40 L40 B30 T15 U25; Acc. 5, HC 2; 7200 lbs., $22,300

Hey, who knew, this is another design back from 2037 where I had the same idea - 200 pt armor van - that I still had today (see the Osiris)! Well, this is worse than the Osiris. I tried to keep the basic weapon system (a pretty bad one), and needed to drop 27 pts armor to add the radials, dischargers etc (see this list).

      Corps 2057 - Div50, Div30 Van (Updated)

      Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Sport PP (PC & SC), 6 PR FP-Radials, driver, 3 linked MML (10/AP) in turret, 2 linked RR front (10/HEAT or HESH or both!) , HDOJ (10/reg) back, DSP under; Hi-Res comp, HD-ABS, no-paint windshield, HTM & overdrive; 10 oil/smoke dischargers, linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T) & 4 bumper triggers (also linked to that side's weapons) 20 pts FP WG/WH, 9 pts LRFP CA each around PP, driver, RRs; 126 pts. sloped FP Armor: F23 B23 R30 L30 T13 U7; HC 3, Acc. 5 (HTM 10/ overdrive 2.5) Top 115 (85/135) Pwr 3450, 7196.6 lbs. $49,916

Econocorps (Cheap) Option Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Sport PP, 6 PR-Radials, driver, 3 linked MML (10/reg) in turret, 2 linked RR front (10/reg) , HDOJ (10/reg) back, DSP under; SWC to MML, 10 oil/smoke dischargers, linked to 4 bumper triggers (also linked to that side's weapons) 20 pts FP WG/WH, 9 pts LRFP CA each around PP, driver, RRs; 126 pts. sloped FP Armor: F23 B23 R30 L30 T13 U7; HC 3, Acc. 5 Top 105 Pwr 3000, 7196.6 lbs. $29908

Design Notes - This is an update of this:
Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Super PP, 4 SD back, 2 PRR front, driver, 3 linked MML in turret, 2 linked RR front with magazines, HDOJ back; Hi-Res comp. 132 pts. Armor: F30 R20 L20 B30 T16 U16; Acc. 5, HC 3; 7198 lbs., $29,060; Deluxe: upgrade to HDFOJ, remove 4 pts. Armor; 7152 lbs., $29990; Econocorps: make RR into RL; add 14 pts. Armor, 7194 lbs; $29,480

Given my philosophy of maintaining the same weapon system in the upgrades, I could possibly put all the "3 MML in 3sp turret" as one named Van except that's way too limiting.  I mean, if I put every car with a turreted Vulcan...  Anyway, the original car is not that good, and I was unsure if I should spend more time to just create an upgrade of a poor weapon system - basically, if you have a turret and front weapons, they should be capable of smartlinking.  Extra mags do take up low-weight space in a Van.  Even as it is, the original design had 5 spaces left.  I took those spaces up with sloping (which every van *needs*) and CA (the best bang for the buck), and a DSP (the only damage-sink cheat I'll allow for vans, because the armor weight thing is ridiculous, and it actually a usable weapon).

Were I to totally update this, it would be because I like the name.

      Osiris - Div45 Van (Galaxy)

Van (Streamlined), Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., 150 cu in (Tubes/Blue/VP/Spr), 5 gal dueling tank, 6 PR tires, Driver & Gunner; RL (20/AP) in 2sp turret, TL + LGL to 20 rockets in turret, HDFOJ (10/reg) back, HDPS (10/reg) back, DSP (under), 2 SWC, 10 oil/smoke dischargers connected to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T), 4 bumper triggers (to dischargers/side weapons), no-paint windshield, 29 pts WG/WH, 9 pts LRFP CA around driver, around engine/gas tank, around HDPS & HDFOJ together; 200 pts sloped Plastic Armor: F45 B40 R40 L40 T20 U15; HC 2, Acc. 15, Top 82.5, MPG 48.4, Range 220, 7198.8 lbs., $42687.50
      • Higher HC Option 1 - upgrade tires to Solid-Radials, add active suspension, remove 1 pt WG/WH; remove 24 pts armor; HC 4, $52,185.50

      • Higher HC Option 2 - upgrade tires to Solid-Radials, replace RL + TL system with RR (20/reg), mag switch, add active suspension, remove 3 pt WG/WH; remove 27 pts armor; HC 4, $46,916.50

      • Other Options:  (pending, add more for special HEAT/HESH loads)

Design Notes - This was a quick design for a Van with 200 points of armor, yet no C/A frame. After that, the sky was the limit. To get the lightest possible engine, I used IC. In order to use all my space, I wanted sloped/streamlined as well as a 2 man crew and component armor. The lightest weaponry per space comes from defense, especially the HDs. The option cars are because 200 pts is really high, and after I made the base workable design, I felt it could be more protected/usable with a few more tweaks.

Name Notes - Osiris, a god of the Egyptian pantheon, is a large extrasolar (i.e. outside our solar system) planet. Osiris is an unofficial name, it's 'real' name is HD 209458 b.

      Batterstorm - Div100 Camper

      Camper (sloped/streamlined), Xhvy Ch., Hvy.-Active Sus., 6 SD-FP-radial Tires, Sport PP (PC/SC), Driver; ITL & VFRP (60/AP) in 3-space turret, LGL to 60 rockets, cyberlink to ITL, 10 oil/smoke dischargers, 4 bumper triggers, 4 laser-reactive webs, HTM, Overdrive, ABS-HD brakes, HD shocks, no paint windshield, 9 pts WG back, 5 pt WH front, 9 pts LR-FP CA around PP & driver, 145 pts sloped LRFP Armor: F30 B30 R30 L30 T15 U10; HC 4, Acc. 5(10/2.5 - HTM/Overdrive), Top 120 (90/140), 7799.6 lbs., $94,012.50
      • Straight Cyberlink Option (Div80) - remove ITL & LGL, cyberlink directly to VFRP, add 3 pts armor, 7795.8 lbs, $79,710

      • Div35 Economy Option - Camper, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., 6 SD-radial Tires, Super PP, Driver; VFRP (60/AP) in 3-space turret, HRSCW to VFRP, ID (15/reg) back, 10 oil/smoke dischargers, 4 bumper triggers, 4 laser-reactive webs, 40 pts WG/WH, 9 pts LR-FP CA around PP & driver, 164 pts sloped plastic Armor: F30 B30 R38 L38 T16 U12; HC 3, Acc. 5, Top 90, 7799.4 lbs., $34,687

      • Div50 Laser Economy Option - same as economy but add ITL in turret, LGL to 60 rockets, remove 2 pts from front WH, remove 3 pts reg armor, $48,993

Design Notes - I've been thinking more and more about how much I should like the VFRP. The expensive option uses the full complement of aiming, and depending on your desired division there are options. Even the cheapest, Div35, has a 7 to hit for a potential of 6d+6 damage - and 10 shots of that! It also adds the ID for defense (I usually go with a FOJ for 2-space defense, but not when I rely on a laser). Armor is still a bit light, but them's the breaks with campers. I think I'll try this with a pickup to see if I can make it work.

      Isohedron - Div50 Subcompact

      Subcompact, C/A frame, Xhvy Ch., Hvy-Active Sus., Small PP (PC/SC), 4 Solid (FP-Radial) tires, driver (Blended BA & PFE), RL (10/Incen) front, ITL front, LGL to 10 rockets, 5 oil/smoke dischargers, HRSWC, HD-ABS, HD shocks, 4 bumper triggers, HTM-Overdrive, Spoiler & Airdam; No Paint Tinted Windshield; 133 pts RRFP Plastic armor (F30 B20 L25 R25 T20 U13); Acc. 5 (10), Top 90 (67.5/110), HC 6 (7), 2760 lbs, $45,552

Design Notes - I had this on the drawing board, and it looked finished. I didn't see that it had been posted, so here goes. It's the contrast, I guess, with these Div5s. A waste of money, life and limb... ladies and gentlemen, I present the $45,000 subcompact. For the mother in law.

      Tigerhawk 2037 - Div50 Small Copter

Small Copter, Small Copter PP, pilot, UM turret with RR with mag (fires back), 2 linked RR front, computer; 273 pts. Armor: F60 R45 L45 B50 U60 T13; Acc. 5, HC 2; 7995 lbs., $49,960

Design Notes: Hey, why not. I think I threw in magazines when I could think of nothing else to use in a space (instead of something more useful in a duel, like a fire extinguisher).

      Aqualung 2037 - Div50 Van

Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Super PP, driver, 6 SD tires, 2 linked Lasers front, Laser in turret, OJ back, 3 laser batteries, 120 pts Armor: F20 L20 R20 B20 T20 U20; Acc. 5, HC 2, 7192 lbs., $46,530

Design Notes - Same old story - underarmored, overweaponed, 4 weapon-systems and no gunner. Sigh. (Nov 13, 2013 update: This is a very early design of mine, look at the scan above).

Name Notes - I renamed it recently during my Jethro Tull listening phase. (Nov 13, 2013 update: the original was unnamed).

      Impetus 2037 - Div50 Van (Obs.)

      Updated here:
Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Super PP, driver, 4 PR tires rear, 2 PRR front, 2 linked HL front, Hi-Res computer; 106 pts FP Plastic Armor: F20 (ram) L21 R21 B22 T7 U15; Acc. 5, HC 3, 7194 lbs., $44,510

Design Notes: Woof. Who doesn't liked linked Heavy Lasers (I liked them a bit too much, truth be told). But the armor is absurdly light.

Name Notes: Original name: "Iiyap," likely from my 3 letter period.

Oct 3 2013 - I was looking to upgrade this, but I wanted to check on the ol' Madhat Excel whether the numbers add up.  They don't.  Then even the base design is stupid; the crazy low armor - with a ramplate! - and why is this a Van?  I have 10 spaces left!  It can't be from the 1/3 rule, because 2 HL is only 6 - that can fit in a luxury!  It can also almost fit in a pickup... now that may work.  As for the Van, the design is crackers.

      Uprisal 2037 - Div50 Camper (obsolete)

      Updated here.

Pickup with Camper Shell, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Super PP, 4 SD tires rear & 2 PRR front, driver; 2 linked RR front with mag, GG in turret with mag, Hi-Res comp. 4 10 pt. WG rear WH front, 7 cargo spaces for 11 lbs, 151 pts. FP armor: F40 R30 L30 B25 T13 U13; Acc. 5, HC 3, 7789 lbs.  $40,210.
      • Option 1: replace with HRTC to TC, No FP armor, $32,680
      • Option 2: No FP armor, HRTC: $35,680
Design Notes: Sigh. Not the worst design, except for my burning space with magazines, but a decent amount of armor. It's obsolete because of the tires, but I guess I can do an upgrade.

Name Notes: Original name was "Umbrial."

      Updated Nov 13, 2013

      Justice 2037 - Div40 Camper

Pickup with Camper Shell, Xhvy Chassis, Heavy Sus., Super PP, 6 PR tires, Driver, 2 linked HL front, HDFOJ rear, SWC, 129 pts Armor: F30 B25 R22 L22 T15 U15; HC 2, Acc 5 mph, 7796 lbs, $37,670

      • Option 1 "Deluxe" -add ramplate, remove 15 pts armor, $38,570

      • Option 2 - Camper, Xhvy Ch., Hvy, Sus., Super PP, driver, 6 PR ties, 2 linked HL front, FOJ rear , SWC; 129 pts. FP armor: F30, R22, L22, B25, T15, U15; Acc. 5, HC 3; 7796 lbs., $41,540

Design Notes: Yeah this looks like the (just uploaded) Sunder but without some of the accessories. Also, as proof that I did not think too much when putting designs together, I decided a *flaming* oil-jet was just the ticket to round out 2 lasers. Why not create my *own* smokescreens?

Updated Nov 10, 2013:  Name Notes - Original name "Juztiz."  I guess I was all hip-hop even in 1986.

      Sunder 2037 - Div45 Camper

Pickup with Camper Shell, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., Super PP, 6 SD tires, driver, 2 linked HL front, Active Suspension, SWC, bumper trigger, ramplate, 106 pts Armor: F30 (ram), R20 L20 B20 T6 U10; Acc. 5, HC3, 7794 lbs. $42,730
      • 2057 Tweak: Camper, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., Super PP, driver, 6 SD tires, 2 linked HL front, hi-res comp., active suspension, bumper trigger, Armor: F30 (ram), R20 L20 B20 T6 U10; Acc. 5, HC3, 7794 lbs. $46,230

Design Notes: This was almost a design experiment for trying to cram two front HLs. Ah well; I'd prefer one in a turret and put the rest in armor.  [2063: The "option" was an attempt of quick improvement when I first entered this in 2037.]

Name Notes:  Original name was "Siaesun,"  Don't know what that means.

      Fumagore - Div50 Luxury (Combat)

Luxury, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., Super PP, driver & gunner, 4 Solid tires, 2 linked GG front, RGM back, MD back, 2 hi-res computers, 170 pts. Plastic Armor F40 R30 L30 B35 T15 U20; Acc. 5, HC 3, 6600 lbs, $48,200.

      • Option "Fumagore II" -  downgrade tires to PR, take out 1 HRTC add cyberlink to GGs - $59,000
      Combat record
      • SHOTS: 1 shot each for all weapons,
      • HITS: left armor 15 hits; front armor breached, GGs destroyed, PP 2 hits;
      • TIRES: lost LF wheel (weapon damage), LB, RF 2 hits, RB 7 hits,
      • I won!
Design Notes - A decent (winning design) with good armor and nasty weapons. In those simple, under-accessoried days, the high end cars put the money in weapons. This could use an update.

[Updated Nov 3, 2013 - added old picture, and the modifications]
