Antiped B2 2066 - RPG Van (Updated)

Update of this obsolete RPG (anti-pedestrian) design.

Type: Van, Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: Sport (Pwr 3000, 12dp), Tires: 6 FP-Solids(14dp), Crew: Driver (no equip) & Gunner (no equip), Weaponry 3 FG (20/reg) in UM turret (1D+1, area), GL (10/TG) front, HDSS (10/TG) back, PS under as part of the Styx Laser Paint Array, Weighted Accessories: IFE, Unwgt. Acces.: 2 Targ. Comp., HD-antilock brakes, HTM & Overdrive (linked), no-paint windshield, [6 total links], Dischargers: 10 flachette: (2T, 2U, 2R, 2L, F, B), Defenses: 4 bumper triggers, Styx Laser Paint Array; Wheel Armor: 2x10 pt WG rear, 2x10 WG front, 38 pts WH (choose where), Component Armor 9 pts LRFP for (a) PP (6 sp), (b) Driver (2 sp), & (c) Gunner (2 sp) Cargo: 6 sp, 3 lbs.; Vehicle Armor: 98 pts FP Plastic: F(20) B(20) R(22) L(22) T(9) U(5); HC: 1, Acc. 5 (HTM 10/Overdrive 2.5),  Top Speed 105 (77.5/125), DM: 1, Hit Mod: -1, Weight: 7193 lbs. Max 7200, Cost: $41,003.00

Design Notes - Updated from this obsolete RPG (anti-pedestrian) 2037 design:
Van, Xtra-Heavy Chassis, Heavy Suspension, Super PP, 4 PR-Radials tires back, 2 PR tires front, Driver, 3 FG with mag (40 each) in 3sp turret, 2 linked GL (10/tear gas) front, GL (10/tear gas) right, left, back; 7 total links, 10 pt WG individually on 6 wheels, 10 pt WH individually on all 6 wheels, 70 pts Plastic Armor: F 20 B 16 R 12 L 12 T 10 U 0; HC: 2, Acc. 5, 7195 lbs,.$25,000.00
Even outside of the errors in the math, and the major farce of the whole anti-pedestrian theme, and even beyond the farce of Car Wars vans, this was a horrible design. To improve it, I used the tricks for all my vans: sloped armor, gunner, Component Armor for all crew (everything should be CA, to be honest, but I needed to keep the original nonsense, at least nominally). I threw out the original $25K tag because RPG doesn't really require it, and updated from Super to Sport for the weight saving; upgraded the armor and tires to FP (because fire attacks are the most effective from peds to cars), added IFE for same reason.

Antiped IV 2065 - RPG Compact (Updated)

Type: Compact, Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: Medium PP (PC & SC) (Pwr 1610, 8dp), Tires: 4 Radial-Solids (11dp), Crew: Driver (blended BA), Weaponry FG (20/reg) in turret (1D* area), FG (20/reg) front (1D* area), SS (10/TG) back, Weighted Accessories: nil, Unweighted Accessories: smartlink, no-paint windshield, [0 total links], Dischargers: 10 flechette, linked to anti-theft system, Defenses: 4 bumper triggers (to dischargers & that side's weapons); Wheel Armor: 80 total = every wheel has full 10 pts of WG & WH, Component Armor:  Driver = 9 pts LRFP over 2 spaces, Cargo: No space, no weight; Vehicle Armor: 165 pts Plastic Armor: F(35) B(35) R(35) L(35) T(13) U(12); HC: 3, Acc. 5,  Top Speed 95, Cruising: 57, DM: 1, Hit Mod: -1, Weight: 4439.6 lbs. Max 4440, Cost: $18,470.

Design Notes -This is an update of this obsolete (and stupid) design (as stated there, 'This is the fourth entry for a series of really stupid 'concept' cars based on anti-pedestrian combat.')
Compact, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Large PP, driver, 4 SD tires, turret with 2 linked FG , SS rear with Tear Gas (i.e. TSS). 4x10 pt. WG. 175 pts armor: F40 R30 L30 B30 T25 U20; Acc. 5 HC 2; 4435 lbs., $14,150
Since I can't use a 2sp turret anymore, I felt that putting 1 FG in a 1sp turret and 1 FG front, then smartlinking them, would take care of that. The original had a Large PP... why?  Out that went. I felt the anti-theft system attached to Flechette dischargers (aka grenades, in my day) would also fit into the RPG theme.  With these changes, I was able to get some component armor in as well as full 80 points of wheel armor - a true necessity for anti-pedestrian comabt.  To deal with the resultant loss in HC, I use radial tires.

Antiped B2 - Div25 RPG Van (Obsolete)

Updated here.
Van, Xtra-Heavy Chassis, Heavy Suspension, Super PP, 4 PR-Radials tires back, 2 PR tires front, Driver, 3 FG with mag (40 each) in 3sp turret, 2 linked GL (10/tear gas) front, GL (10/tear gas) right, left, back; 7 total links, 10 pt WG individually on 6 wheels, 10 pt WH individually on all 6 wheels, 70 pts Plastic Armor: F 20 B 16 R 12 L 12 T 10 U 0; HC: 2, Acc. 5, 7195 lbs,.$25,000.00

Design Notes - When I was putting together the 2037 designs way back in 2057, I seem to have missed this one (or did so purposefully, I can imagine why).  This is another "anti-pedestrian" car, see the other monstrosities in this category here, and the discussion in the first entry here.

So, I seriously thought that I'd need to have a crew of 1 to shoot 5 grenade launchers, willy-nilly.  70 pts of armor... even for a van that's sad.

Name Notes - As mentioned in many 2037 entries, I was terrible with names - often choosing after the primary attribute of the car.  The original name was "Anteeped BII."

Update, 2016 Oct 7: I'm trying to update this and I see that the numbers are off; even with the obsolete touches, this appears to be 1 space too far and 25 lbs under. In any case, I'm going to update this, for whatever reason.

Antiped 3 (2057) - Div30 Van (Updated)

Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., Super PP, 6 PRR Tires, Driver; 3 FG (20/reg) in 3sp turret, 3 GL (10/TG) either all forward, or 1 each F, L, R; HDSS (10/TG) back, DSP under, TC, 10 oil/smoke dischargers, linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T) & 4 bumper triggers (also linked to that side's weapons); 38 pts WG/WH, 9 pts LRFP CA around PP & driver; 104 pts sloped Plastic Armor: F20 B20 R23 L23 T12 U6; HC 3, Acc. 5, Top 95, Pwr 2600, 7196.4 lbs, $27,262

Design Notes - This is an update of this Van
Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Super PP, driver & gunner, 6 PRR tires, 6 10 pt. WG & WH, 3 linked FG with mag in turret, GL (F, R, L) with tear gas loads, HDSS with tear gas rear, 59 pts. Armor (F15 R10 L10 B15 T5 U4), 7196 lbs., $24,420.

I am updating this in the name of thoroughness.  The whole anti-pedestrian thing is pretty inconsistent for the Car Wars world.  Add that to the worthlessness of current grenade-launcher mechanics and I don't see the point of this.  Even the FG can't be effective tire-shredders if they don't penetrate wheel-guards (do they? that'd be a weird loophole).

Antiped 3 (2037) - RPG Van

Updated here.

Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Super PP, driver & gunner, 6 PRR tires, 3 linked FG with mag in turret, GL (F, R, L) with tear gas loads, HDSS with tear gas rear, 6 10 pt. WG & 6 10 pt. WH, 59 pts. Armor (F15 R10 L10 B15 T5 U4), HC 2, Acc 5, 7196 lbs., $24,420.

Design Notes: The anti-pedestrian van to the rescue! See the other idiocies in this category, and the discussion in the first entry here. Maybe, RPG-wise, these cars would be useful for family reunions.

Name Notes: Original name was "Anteeped III".

Antiped Prime - RPG Luxury (Combat)

Luxury, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Super PP, driver, 4 SD tires, 2 linked FG in turret, 2 linked GL front & back with tear gas loads, ejector seat, target comp., body armor included. 4 10 pt. WG and WH on each wheel; 137 pts. FP plastic Armor: F30 R25 L25 B25 T10 U12;  Acc. 5, HC 2; 6600 lbs; $24,680

Combat record:
  • F 12 hits, R 23 hits, B 4 hits, L 4 hits,
  • 4 shots from GL front, 2 shots back,
  • note the tires are untouched,
  • who was I fighting? Bikers?
  • Also what was with me and no gunners? It's all about the designing with no foresight to how things are actually played.

Design Notes: I have to give my past self credit for actually playtesting some of my stupid ideas. Not enough, I guess. Like Antiped iv (compact) this was part of a design journey to explore the idiocy of anti-pedestrian tactics. Answer me this: why in the fantasy world of Car Wars 2035 did anyone care about using tear gas? I'd say that in the Car Wars RPG a flaming paint cloud is the new tear gas.

This reminds me of what a sick friend of mine said, back in 1985, when I asked about Agent Orange. AO was a defoliant we used on our own troops during Vietnam. I asked what defoliant did we use on the enemy troops and he responded "napalm."

Name Notes:  Original name was just "Anteeped."

Antiped IV - RPG Compact (Obsolete)

This is updated here.
Compact, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Large PP, driver, 4 SD tires, turret with 2 linked FG , SS rear with Tear Gas (i.e. TSS). 4x10 pt. WG. 175 pts armor: F40 R30 L30 B30 T25 U20; Acc. 5 HC 2; 4435 lbs., $14,150

Design notesThis is the fourth entry for a series of really stupid 'concept' cars based on anti-pedestrian combat. I guess the fact that the ADQs were introducing anti-ped material made me think that I should design cars for that purpose. Ye-gads. If you think this compact (with the obsolete turret) is bad, wait 'til you see the Vans!

Name notes - Original name was "Anteeped IV".
