Antiped B2 2066 - RPG Van (Updated)

Update of this obsolete RPG (anti-pedestrian) design.

Type: Van, Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: Sport (Pwr 3000, 12dp), Tires: 6 FP-Solids(14dp), Crew: Driver (no equip) & Gunner (no equip), Weaponry 3 FG (20/reg) in UM turret (1D+1, area), GL (10/TG) front, HDSS (10/TG) back, PS under as part of the Styx Laser Paint Array, Weighted Accessories: IFE, Unwgt. Acces.: 2 Targ. Comp., HD-antilock brakes, HTM & Overdrive (linked), no-paint windshield, [6 total links], Dischargers: 10 flachette: (2T, 2U, 2R, 2L, F, B), Defenses: 4 bumper triggers, Styx Laser Paint Array; Wheel Armor: 2x10 pt WG rear, 2x10 WG front, 38 pts WH (choose where), Component Armor 9 pts LRFP for (a) PP (6 sp), (b) Driver (2 sp), & (c) Gunner (2 sp) Cargo: 6 sp, 3 lbs.; Vehicle Armor: 98 pts FP Plastic: F(20) B(20) R(22) L(22) T(9) U(5); HC: 1, Acc. 5 (HTM 10/Overdrive 2.5),  Top Speed 105 (77.5/125), DM: 1, Hit Mod: -1, Weight: 7193 lbs. Max 7200, Cost: $41,003.00

Design Notes - Updated from this obsolete RPG (anti-pedestrian) 2037 design:
Van, Xtra-Heavy Chassis, Heavy Suspension, Super PP, 4 PR-Radials tires back, 2 PR tires front, Driver, 3 FG with mag (40 each) in 3sp turret, 2 linked GL (10/tear gas) front, GL (10/tear gas) right, left, back; 7 total links, 10 pt WG individually on 6 wheels, 10 pt WH individually on all 6 wheels, 70 pts Plastic Armor: F 20 B 16 R 12 L 12 T 10 U 0; HC: 2, Acc. 5, 7195 lbs,.$25,000.00
Even outside of the errors in the math, and the major farce of the whole anti-pedestrian theme, and even beyond the farce of Car Wars vans, this was a horrible design. To improve it, I used the tricks for all my vans: sloped armor, gunner, Component Armor for all crew (everything should be CA, to be honest, but I needed to keep the original nonsense, at least nominally). I threw out the original $25K tag because RPG doesn't really require it, and updated from Super to Sport for the weight saving; upgraded the armor and tires to FP (because fire attacks are the most effective from peds to cars), added IFE for same reason.

Design Notes - Updated from this obsolete 2037 design:
Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Super PP, 6 PR tires, driver, AC front, MG with mag R&L, RL in turret, OJ with mag & MD back (linked), 5 smoke disch., Hi-Res comp.; 116 pts. Armor: F30 R20 L20 B26 T10 U10; Acc. 5, HC 2; 7199 lbs., $27,980. [2015 update: numbers are utterly off on this, my final tally is 81 lbs light, 2 sp. avail, and $31,580]

For the main entry update, I couldn't manage div30 while keeping the insane level of weapons, but I did move the AC to a turret (why else have an AC *in a van* and a different weapon in a turret?).  The IC engine was necessary to save weight.  The first option was to sacrifice a lot in order to get as much armor as possible while still having an autocannon in a turret.  Is the option's armor still too light for high-ticket battles?  There's also virtually no special accessories.

Finally, I wanted to see how this arrangement looked as a camper (because of the main weapon).  I decided to sacrifice vehicle armor for tire strength and in general that's what I've found: vehicle armor isn't as necessary as HC and tire ability.

Impetus 2065 - Div50 Van (Updated)

Type: Van (Streamlined), Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: Sport Electric (Pwr 3000, 12dp), Tires: 6 PR Radials (8dp), Crew: Driver (no equip), Weaponry 2 linked Pulsed Twin Lasers front (2D+8, 1/0 burn), HDOJ (10/reg) back, DSP under, Weighted Accessories: nil, Unweighted Accessories: [1 total link], Dischargers: 10 total: 4 oil (FBRL) 6 smoke (2T, 2U, 1R 1L), Defenses: nil; Wheel Armor: 2 total = 2x1 pt WG rear, Component Armor 10 pts FP for (a) PP (6 sp), (b) Driver (2 sp), (c) TwLs (4 sp), (d) HDOJ (3sp), Cargo: 6 sp, 0 lbs.; Vehicle Armor: 110 pts sloped Composite Armor (2 Metal/108 Plastic): F(0/23) B(0/23) R(0/25) L(0/25) T(0/10) U(2/2); HC: 3, Acc. 5,  Top Speed 115, DM: 1, Hit Mod: -1, Weight: 7800 lbs. Max 7800, Cost: $49,999.00

Design Notes - Updated from this obsolete 2037 design:
Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Super PP, driver, 4 PR tires rear, 2 PRR front, 2 linked HL front, Hi-Res computer; 106 pts FP Plastic Armor: F20 (ram) L21 R21 B22 T7 U15; Acc. 5, HC 3, 7194 lbs., $44,510.
It's obsolete because of the PR-Radial problem. I think the numbers are a bit off anyway (my reconstruction has $40,530). There are also 16 spaces left, and virtually no reason to put this weaponry in a van.  And a ramplate. A ramplate?!  I guess I wanted to have the ram with the bumper triggers (missing from the original, hmmm).

So for the update, I took out the ramplate because please.  Then I used the Sport PP option, HLs became pulsed Twin Lasers (not sure how kosher that is but the MADHAT excel allows it, so it's legal to me. Anyway, my usual adds for un-sucking vans are (1) sloping the armor, (2) a drop-spike plate, (3) component armor everywhere possible.  In fact, all internal components are armored, meaning that when, inevitably, the outside armor is breached, everything inside (except the DSP because that's outlawed) has a cocoon of 10 pts of armor around it.  All accessories have been dropped in order to get to the Div50 tag.

Max 7200, Cost: $44,828.00 .
Design Notes - Update of this 2037 design:
Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., Super PP, 4 Solid tires rear, 2 PR Radials front, Driver; AC with 2 mags (30/reg) in turret, ID back, Spear MD with three mags (20/proximity fuses) back, HRTC, 2 bumper triggers (front & back), 136 pts Plastic Armor: F 30 B 20 R 25 L 25 T 21 U 15; HC 3, Acc. 5, 7199 lbs. (max 7200), $35,130.00
According to my reconstruction of this car, this has 4 vehicular spaces left over (even without the cargo).  The cost is off too - probably an error in determining all those extra mags or prox. fuses.  BTW, this is a perfect example of where the HRSWC can game-break; with that alone this goes down a fighting class.  The simple update option was not trying to optimize but using those 4 spaces better (sloping & comp. armor); the added weight from the CA was taken from the AC ammo.

Of all versions, the gas option may be the best.

HC: 2, Acc. 5 (10 HTM),  Top Speed 105 (77.5 HTM), Cruising: 63, DM: 1, Hit Mod: -1, Weight: 7196.4 lbs. Max 7200, Cost: $26,990.50
Summary: Van, X-Hvy Ch, Hvy Sus, Super PP,  6 PR Tires, Driver, Gunner, 3 passengers, VFRP in turret, 2 PGSS with mags rear R & L, DSP under, 2 SWC, HTM, 10 dischargers: 4 oil (FBRL) 6 smoke (2T, 2U, 1R 1L), 5 laser webs, 4 bumper triggers, 40 pts WG/WH, 9 pts LRFP Comp Armor each for PP, driver, gunner, passengers, 113 pts sloped Composite Armor (2 Metal/111 Plastic): F(0/30) B(0/30) R(0/30) L(0/30) T(0/15) U(2/5), HC: 3, Acc. 5 (10) Top Spd 105 (77.5), 7196.4 lbs. $26,990.50
Design Notes - This is an update of this obsolete van:
Type: Van, Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: Super Tires: 4 PR back, 2 PR-Radials front, Crew: Driver & Gunner & 3 passengers;  Weaponry: 3 MML (10/reg) in 3 sp. turret, PGS with mag (4/reg) back, Unweighted Accessories: 2 SWCs, Cargo: 6 spaces, 0 lbs. 160 pts Plastic Armor: F 40 B 30 R 30 L 30 T 15 U 15; HC: 3 (OBSOLETE), Acc. 5, Weight: 7200 lbs., Cost: $19,700.00
In my attempt to update it, I realize that the numbers are a bit off (I didn't have the 6 wheel chassis surcharge). It's 7190 lbs, $19,900) Here's an exact design of the above to make it street legal (i.e. all tires the same, all PR for this purpose)
Van, Xtra-Heavy Ch., Heavy Suspension, Super PP, 6 PR tires, Driver & Gunner & 3 passengers;  3 MML (10/reg) in 3 sp. turret, PGS with mag (4/reg) back, 2 SWCs, Cargo: 10 spaces, 10 lbs. 160 pts Plastic Armor: F 40 B 30 R 30 L 30 T 15 U 15; HC: 2, Acc. 5, Top 95, Weight: 7170 lbs., Cost: $19,300.00
In any case, for this update I felt I needed to apply the standard upgrades, e.g. 3 MML to a VFRP (which must be the whole reason for the new weapon), using the cavernous space of the van for a second paint-gas streamer (a device I almost never use) plus all my usual upgrades  (dischargers, laser array, and component armor).   I felt that the heavy amount of CA would offset the loss of 50 pts of armor (heh) even if it makes the name even more useless than usual.

Design Notes - An update of this original:
Van (C/A Frame), Xhvy Ch., Hvy-Active Sus., Sport PP (PC/SC), 6 SD (Radial/FP) tires, driver (driver has blended IBA & FP suit) & gunner (nil); GG (20 shots) in turret, OG front (10/oil), 2 linked SD (10/expl) Back Left & Back Right, SS (10/Hot Smoke) rear, all dropped linked, DSP (under & linked to SS), active suspension, fake ramplate, spoiler & airdam, 2 safety-seats, HD-ABS, HD shocks, HTM & Overdrive, 2 hi-res comp., no-paint tinted windshield, 7 Oil Dischargers (all on Bump Tr), 4 fake WG/WH, 6 bumper triggers (4 to dischargers, 2 to F&B weapons), 10 pts. FP CA each around: (a) crew, (b) PP, (c) OG, rear weaponry; 150 pts. LRFP armor F30 B20 R25 L35 T15 U15; Acc. 5 (10), Top 115 (85/135), HC 4(5), 7198 lbs, $95,508

Basically, I'm so wary of C/A frames (even with the albatross Van) that I wanted to jettison 'em for all van designs. I felt with this car, a gas engine - especially the meager 150 cid - could lose a lot of weight.  There are also plenty of ways to reduce the base cost.

I like the second option best, which keeps extensive component armor while sloping (and not using C/A).

  • Gas Robusto Option - Type: Van, (Streamlined), Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: 150 cid IC engine (Tubes/Blue/VP/Spr) & 5 gal Dueling tank, Tires: 6 FP-Solid Tires (12dp), Crew: Driver (no equip) & Gunner (in cupola), Weaponry:  HR with 3sp magazine (4/AP) in 3 space cupola, ITL with LGL to 4 rockets in cupola, GG with mag (20/reg) front, DSP under, Weighted Accessories: Active Suspension, FE, Unweighted Accessories: 2 HRTC, HD-antilock brakes, Overdrive, no-paint tinted windshield, [5 total links], Dischargers: 10 dischargers: 4 oil (FBRL) 6 smoke (2T, 2U, 1R 1L), Defenses: Smoke Dischargers linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T; covering tires of those sides as well); 4 bumper triggers (to oil & also linked to that side's weapons); Wheel Armor: 19 pts WG rear, Component Armor:  9 pts LRFP each for (a) Power Plant (3 spaces), (b) gas tank (1 sp), (c) GG (3 sp), (d) Driver (2 sp), Cargo: 6 spaces, 1.8 lbs, 136 pts FP Plastic Armor: F 25 B 25 R 30 L 30 T 20 U 6; HC: 3, Acc. 15 (Overdrive 7.5),  Top Speed 82.5 (102.5), MPG 48.4, Range 220, Weight: 7198.2 lbs. Max 7200, Cost: $67,728.50
Design Notes -This was in my draft folder dated Oct 8, 2009 under the name "cupola van".  For the record, the other "cupola van" is the Palladium, which uses the same weaponry in the cupola, the only thing worth 1 space, 4 heavy rockets.  Now, is that worth the heavy weight?  Good question.  The other van uses a VFRP front, this one uses a GG (a primo weapon).

Note, I don't know if a cupola reduces speed, so that computation is not in the data above.

Name Notes -  Caliban is a moon of Uranus.  According to the Wiki: "...the second largest retrograde irregular moon of Uranus. It was discovered on 6 September 1997 by Brett J. Gladman, Philip D. Nicholson, Joseph A. Burns, and John J. Kavelaars ... it was named after the monster character in William Shakespeare's play The Tempest."

Armydillo 2037 - Div20 Van (Obsolete)

Updated here.
Type: Van, Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: Super Tires: 4 PR back, 2 PR-Radials front, Crew: Driver & Gunner & 3 passengers;  Weaponry: 3 MML (10/reg) in 3 sp. turret, PGS with mag (4/reg) back, Unweighted Accessories: 2 SWCs, Cargo: 6 spaces, 0 lbs. 160 pts Plastic Armor: F 40 B 30 R 30 L 30 T 15 U 15; HC: 3 (OBSOLETE), Acc. 5, Weight: 7200 lbs., Cost: $19,700.00

Design Notes -I think I wanted to have passengers, a low price, heavier armor van.  It's obsolete because of the PR-Radial problem.

Name Notes - Oy, these terrible teenage names.  And it's a name too close to Armadillo (an obsolete rules-breaking pickup).  I assume I named this because of the relatively heavy armor for a Van.

Blowout 2067 - Div70 Van (Updated)

Van, Xtra-Heavy Chassis, Heavy Suspension, 150 cid IC Engine (Tubes/Blue/VP) (9dp), 5 gal dueling tank (8dp), 6 PR Radial Tires (8dp), Driver & Gunner; VFRP (30/AP) in turret, 2 linked RL (10/reg) front, 2 linked RL (10/reg) back, ITL in turret, ITL back, ITL front, LGL to 70 rockets, 2 HRTC, 2 smartlinks (front & back ITLs to turret ITL), HD-antilock brakes, Overdrive, no-paint windshield, 7 smoke dischargers (F B 2R 2L 1T) linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T; covering tires of those sides as well) and 4 bumper triggers (linked to that side's weapons); 7 total links, 20 pts total for Wheelguards/Wheelhubs (you choose where), 9 pts LRFP Component Armor each around (a) PP/gas tank [3 spaces] (b) driver [2 sp.], (c) front RLs & ITL [4 sp.], (d) rear RLs & ITLs [4 sp.], 6 cargo spaces, 131 pts sloped Plastic Armor: F 30 B 30 R 30 L 30 T 6 U 5; HC: 3, Acc. 10 (Overdrive 5), Top Speed 62.5 (82.5), MPG 45, 7196.4 lbs. (max 7200), $69,010.50

  • More armor Option (Div65) - remove the front & back TL, but keep the LGL links to the turret TL, keep smartlinks, add 1 oil/smoke discharger, add 7 pts armor: 7199.4 lbs, $64,291.50

  • Cheaper Option (Div45)Van, Xtra-Heavy Chassis, Heavy Suspension, 150 cid IC Engine (Tubes/VP) (9dp), 5 gal dueling tank (8dp), 6 PR Radial Tires (8dp), Driver & Gunner; VFRP (30/AP) in turret, 2 linked RL (10/reg) front, 2 linked RL (10/reg) back, DSP under, PS (25/reg) part of the Styx Laser Paint Array, 2 HRTC, HD-Antilock brakes, Overdrive, no-paint windshield, 10 dischargers: 4 oil (FBRL) 6 smoke (2T, 2U, 1R 1L): smoke linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T; covering tires of those sides as well) and 4 bumper triggers (to oil & also linked to that side's weapons); 6 total links, 38 pts total for Wheelguards/Wheelhubs (you choose where), 9 pts LRFP Component Armor each around (a) PP [3 spaces] and (b) driver [2 sp.], 6 cargo spaces, 138 pts sloped Plastic Armor: F 30 B 30 R 30 L 30 T 13 U 5; HC: 3, Acc. 10 (Overdrive 5), Top Speed 60 (80), MPG 45, Range 225, 7198 lbs. (max 7200), $44,771.50

  • RL Option (Div75)Van, Xtra-Heavy Chassis, Heavy Suspension, 150 cid IC Engine (Tubes/Blue/VP) (9dp), 5 gal dueling tank (8dp), 4 FP PR Radial Tires (8dp) back, 2 FP Solid Radials (11dp) front, Driver & Gunner; RL (20/AP) in turret, 2 linked RL (10/AP) front, 2 linked RL (10/AP) back, ITL in turret, LGL for all 60 rockets, DSP under, 4 smartlinks (to allow both LGL or regular RL firing), 2 HRTC, HD-Antilock brakes, Overdrive, no-paint windshield, 10 dischargers: 4 oil (FBRL) 6 smoke (2T, 2U, 1R 1L): smoke linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T; covering tires of those sides as well) and 4 bumper triggers (to oil & also linked to that side's weapons); 6 total links, 39 pts total for Wheelguards/Wheelhubs (you choose where), 9 pts LRFP Component Armor each around (a) PP [3 spaces] and (b) driver [2 sp.], 6 cargo spaces, 151 pts sloped FP Plastic Armor: F 30 B 30 R 35 L 35 T 15 U 6; HC: 3, Acc. 10 (Overdrive 5), Top Speed 62.5 (82.5), MPG 45, Range 225, 7197 lbs. (max 7200), $73,848.50

Design Notes - This is an update of this iffy 2037 Van:
Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Super PP, 6 SD tires, driver & gunner, 7 RL: 2 linked front, 2 back, 1 R & L, 1 in turret, 1 targ. comp, 1 SWC, 100 pts. Armor: F25 R20 L20 B20 T5 U10; Acc. 5, HC 2; 7200 lbs., $25,000

The original was almost a design experiment "how many rocket launchers can I fit in a van?" type deal.  The modified version uses a VFRP since that seems more fitting for a van.  Along with the turret, I felt side RL were overkill, especially when I could use those 500 lbs, and space, for sloping and CA.

Armageddon III 2037 - Div35 Van (Obsolete)

Update of main design here. Revised but still obsolete write-ups: Armageddon II & Armageddon III.
Van, Xtra-Heavy Chassis, Heavy Suspension, Super PP, 4 PR Tires back, 2 PRR tires front, Driver, 3 HRs in 3sp. turret, 3x3sp rocket magazines: 12 HR total (8 links for HRs to allow different firing, in 3s and 2s), all fire simultaneously); ITL in turret, LGL to 12 rockets, HDFOJ (10/reg) left, HDFOJ (9/reg) right, link to HDFOJs, HRTC, 8 links, 7 cargo spaces 7lbs, 119 pts FP Plastic Armor: F 30 B 20 R 20 L 20 T 25 U 4HC: 2, Acc. 5, 7193 lbs., $33,800
  • Option 1 - replace HRs with 24 LRs, with connecting links, replace PR tires to Solid, add 35 pts armor, full load in right HDFOJ, 7198 lbs, $35,990

  • Option 2 - replace HRs with 36 MnRs, .... [all that's written down]
Design Notes - The flawed write-up here, and I see I was clever in trying to fix the design, instead of being historically accurate.

Things that would've been better: VFRP is a better system than this, except that this will allow 9d6 in one turn (but it's a good replacement for the 24 LRs).  Also, there was no HRSWC back then.  And, of course, the PRR problem.  I think I put in an IRL because I knew about it, not because I knew what it did.

Armageddon II 2037 - Div25 Van

Van, Xtra-Heavy Chassis, Heavy Suspension, Super PP, 6 PR Tires, Driver, 3 HRs in 3sp. turret, 3x3sp rocket magazines: 12 HR total (no links for HRs, all fire simultaneously); ITL in turret, LGL to 12 rockets, HDOJ left, HDOJ right, link to HDOJ, SWC, 121 pts Plastic Armor: F 30 B 20 R 20 L 20 T 25 U 4; HC: 2, Acc. 5, 7189 lbs., $23,930.00

Design Notes - I originally tried writing this up in 2007 here, but I think the earlier one wasn't accurate.  There's also another design with this name, which will go up soon.  I also think I need to update this, especially vis-a-vis the links on the HRs.

Antiped B2 - Div25 RPG Van (Obsolete)

Updated here.
Van, Xtra-Heavy Chassis, Heavy Suspension, Super PP, 4 PR-Radials tires back, 2 PR tires front, Driver, 3 FG with mag (40 each) in 3sp turret, 2 linked GL (10/tear gas) front, GL (10/tear gas) right, left, back; 7 total links, 10 pt WG individually on 6 wheels, 10 pt WH individually on all 6 wheels, 70 pts Plastic Armor: F 20 B 16 R 12 L 12 T 10 U 0; HC: 2, Acc. 5, 7195 lbs,.$25,000.00

Design Notes - When I was putting together the 2037 designs way back in 2057, I seem to have missed this one (or did so purposefully, I can imagine why).  This is another "anti-pedestrian" car, see the other monstrosities in this category here, and the discussion in the first entry here.

So, I seriously thought that I'd need to have a crew of 1 to shoot 5 grenade launchers, willy-nilly.  70 pts of armor... even for a van that's sad.

Name Notes - As mentioned in many 2037 entries, I was terrible with names - often choosing after the primary attribute of the car.  The original name was "Anteeped BII."

Update, 2016 Oct 7: I'm trying to update this and I see that the numbers are off; even with the obsolete touches, this appears to be 1 space too far and 25 lbs under. In any case, I'm going to update this, for whatever reason.

Hatattacker 2037 - Div40 Van (Obsolete)

Updated here.
Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., Super PP, 4 Solid tires rear, 2 PR Radials front, Driver; AC with 2 mags (30/reg) in turret, ID back, Spear MD with three mags (20/proximity fuses) back, HRTC, 2 bumper triggers (front & back), 136 pts Plastic Armor: F 30 B 20 R 25 L 25 T 21 U 15; HC 3, Acc. 5, 7199 lbs. (max 7200), $35,130.00

Design Notes -This may not be a crazy design.  With a gas engine and fewer extra mags, maybe this could be better.  Maybe a camper?  When did we stop allowing extra magazines in cargo space?  Anyway, it's obsolete because of the PRR problem.

Name Notes - Another from the teenager mind: the turret is deadly, so it's a "hat" "attacker."

Titania 2037 - Div25 Van (Galaxy)

Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., Super PP, 6 PR Tires, Driver & Gunner; OG (20/reg) in 3sp. turret, 2 linked RL (10/reg) front, ID (25/reg) back, SD (20/expl) back, SS (10/reg) back, ID-SD-SS linked, SD-SS linked, FE, 2 TC, 133 pts Plastic Armor: F 30 B 24 R 25 L 25 T 15 U 14, HC: 2, Acc. 5, 7192 lbs. (max 7200), $23,640.00

Design Notes -Given all the light weapons in this, especially defense, I thought there'd be more armor.  Well, that's vans for ya.

Name Notes - This was unnamed, so like the others of this period, I'm using the moons of Uranus; Titania is from A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Max 7200, Cost: $59,670.00
  • Gas Option -   [replace electric with gas engine; no streamlining, change tires to solids, add IFE, change CA system, dock some WG armor]:  Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., 200 cid IC engine (Tubes/Blue/VP/Spr), 6 gal. dueling gas tank, 6 FP-Radial-Solid Tires, Driver (no equip) & Gunner (no equip); VFRP (30/AP) in 3sp turret, ITL + LGL to 30 rockets in turret, HDID (10/reg) back, PS (25/reg) as part of the Styx Laser Paint Array, DSP under, IFE, 2 HRSWC, HD-antilock brakes, no-paint windshield, overdrive, 4 oil dischargers (FBRL) 6 smoke dischargers (2T, 2U, 1R 1L): smoke linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T) and 4 bumper triggers (to oil & also linked to that side's weapons); 37 pts WG/WH, 9 pts LRFP CA each around (a) PP (b) gas tank and (c) driver, 145 pts sloped FP Plastic Armor: F30 B30 R30 L30 T18 U7; HC 3, Acc. 20 (Overdrive 10), Top 90 (110), MPG 34, Range 204, 7198.4 lbs., $73,950.00

Design Notes - This was in my draft pile entitled "decent van," and that ain't wrong.  This has my Styx Laser Paint Array (see here), which works well for vans.  Rockets are made for vans as well.  I just noticed that with HTM I have 10 acceleration with a top speed of 95.  Just keep that mysterious gamebreaking tech on from the start, baby!

Name Notes - Atlas is one of the moons of Saturn, and a strong dude from Greek mythology.

Tempest 2057 - Div50 Van (Updated)

Van (Streamlined), Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., Sport PP, 6 PRR Tires, Driver; 2 linked RL (10/reg) front, 2 linked MFR (reg) back, ITL in 0sp turret, LGL to 32 rockets, DSP under, HRSWC to ITL, HTM, HD-antilock brakes, no-paint windshield, 10 oil/smoke dischargers, linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T) and 4 bumper triggers (also linked to that side's weapons) 21 pts WG/WH, 9 pts LRFP CA around PP and driver; 173 pts sloped FP Plastic Armor: F36 B36 R40 L40 T10 U11; HC 3, Acc. 5 (10), Top 115 (85), Pwr 3300, 7199.4 lbs., $49738

Design Notes - An update of this van:
Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Super PP, 6 PR tires, driver, 2 linked RL front, 2 linked MFR rear with TL, LGL to rear rockets; targ. Comp. 200 pts. Armor: F50 R40 L40 B30 T15 U25; Acc. 5, HC 2; 7200 lbs., $22,300

Hey, who knew, this is another design back from 2037 where I had the same idea - 200 pt armor van - that I still had today (see the Osiris)! Well, this is worse than the Osiris. I tried to keep the basic weapon system (a pretty bad one), and needed to drop 27 pts armor to add the radials, dischargers etc (see this list).

Iapetus 2057 - Div35 Van (Galaxy, Updated)

Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., Super PP, 6 PR-Radials Tires, Driver & Gunner; AC (10/reg) in 3sp turret, 2 linked RL (10/reg) front, SS (10/reg) back, DSP under, 2 TC, 10 oil/smoke dischargers, linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T) and 4 bumper triggers (also linked to that side's weapons) 21 pts WG/WH, 9 pts LRFP CA each around PP and driver and RLs. 110 pts sloped Plastic Armor: F20 B20 R24 L24 T15 U7; HC 3 Acc. 5 Top 95 Pwr 2600 7196.6 lbs. $34,240

Design Notes -Update of this van:
Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., Super PP, driver, 2 gunners, 4 SD tires back, 2 PR tires front, AC in 3 sp. turret, 2 linked RL front, RL back, SS back, 3 targeting computers, 94 pts. Armor: F20, R17, L17, B20, T10, U10. Acc. 5, HC 2, 7191 lbs. $29,850

I've left the main weapon system, but I couldn't get the cost down to the original div30.  I looked into changing the front RLs to another AC (and add smartlinking) but that gave me too much weight, and extra space, and all the ways I'd fix that would have changed the essence of the vehicle.

Name Notes - Iapetus is a moon of Saturn.

Corps 2063 - Div90, Div35, Div30 Van

Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., 200 cid IC (Tubes/Blue/VP/Spr), 6 gal dueling tank; 4 FP-PR radials back, 2 FP-Solid-radials front, Driver & Gunner; VFRP (30/AP) in 3sp turret, VFRP (30/AP) front, 2 ITL + LGL to all rockets (1 in turret, 1 front), both smartlinked, FOJ (25/reg) back, DSP under, 2 HRTC, active suspension, overdrive, no-paint windshield, HD Anti-lock brakes, 10 oil/smoke dischargers, linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T) & 4 bumper triggers (also linked to that side's weapons) 23 pts FP-WG/WH, 9 pts LRFP CA each around PP, driver, FOJ, 142 pts sloped FP Plastic Armor: F30 B30 R30 L30 T15 U7; HC 4, Acc. 20 (10), Top 90 (110) MPG 34, Range 204, 7200 lbs. $85,247

Electric Econocorps 2063 Option - Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., Super PP; 6 PR radials back, Driver & Gunner; VFRP (30/AP) in 3sp turret, VFRP (30/reg) front, smartlink, FOJ (25/reg) back, DSP under, 2 TC, 10 oil/smoke dischargers, linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T) & 4 bumper triggers (also linked to that side's weapons) 40 pts WG/WH, 9 pts LRFP CA each around PP, driver, FOJ, 125 pts sloped Plastic Armor: F22 B22 R30 L30 T14 U7; HC 3, Acc. 5, Top 95 Pwr 2600 7198 lbs. $29,750

Design Notes - This is an update of an update. I wanted to use the 3sp turret with rockets and smartlink the front weapons.  It can still have the name because its the same basic weapon system, rockets & OJ.  Kinda.

Corps 2057 - Div50, Div30 Van (Updated)

Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Sport PP (PC & SC), 6 PR FP-Radials, driver, 3 linked MML (10/AP) in turret, 2 linked RR front (10/HEAT or HESH or both!) , HDOJ (10/reg) back, DSP under; Hi-Res comp, HD-ABS, no-paint windshield, HTM & overdrive; 10 oil/smoke dischargers, linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T) & 4 bumper triggers (also linked to that side's weapons) 20 pts FP WG/WH, 9 pts LRFP CA each around PP, driver, RRs; 126 pts. sloped FP Armor: F23 B23 R30 L30 T13 U7; HC 3, Acc. 5 (HTM 10/ overdrive 2.5) Top 115 (85/135) Pwr 3450, 7196.6 lbs. $49,916

Econocorps (Cheap) Option Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Sport PP, 6 PR-Radials, driver, 3 linked MML (10/reg) in turret, 2 linked RR front (10/reg) , HDOJ (10/reg) back, DSP under; SWC to MML, 10 oil/smoke dischargers, linked to 4 bumper triggers (also linked to that side's weapons) 20 pts FP WG/WH, 9 pts LRFP CA each around PP, driver, RRs; 126 pts. sloped FP Armor: F23 B23 R30 L30 T13 U7; HC 3, Acc. 5 Top 105 Pwr 3000, 7196.6 lbs. $29908

Design Notes - This is an update of this:
Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Super PP, 4 SD back, 2 PRR front, driver, 3 linked MML in turret, 2 linked RR front with magazines, HDOJ back; Hi-Res comp. 132 pts. Armor: F30 R20 L20 B30 T16 U16; Acc. 5, HC 3; 7198 lbs., $29,060; Deluxe: upgrade to HDFOJ, remove 4 pts. Armor; 7152 lbs., $29990; Econocorps: make RR into RL; add 14 pts. Armor, 7194 lbs; $29,480

Given my philosophy of maintaining the same weapon system in the upgrades, I could possibly put all the "3 MML in 3sp turret" as one named Van except that's way too limiting.  I mean, if I put every car with a turreted Vulcan...  Anyway, the original car is not that good, and I was unsure if I should spend more time to just create an upgrade of a poor weapon system - basically, if you have a turret and front weapons, they should be capable of smartlinking.  Extra mags do take up low-weight space in a Van.  Even as it is, the original design had 5 spaces left.  I took those spaces up with sloping (which every van *needs*) and CA (the best bang for the buck), and a DSP (the only damage-sink cheat I'll allow for vans, because the armor weight thing is ridiculous, and it actually a usable weapon).

Were I to totally update this, it would be because I like the name.

Ruthless 2057 - Div40 Van (Updated)

Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Design Notes - This is an update of this non-obsolete van:
Van, Xhvy Ch., Hvy Sus., Super PP, driver, 6 PRR tires, VMG in turret, 2 linked RL front, FOJ back, 2 MD (R & L), all back weapons linked; Armor: F30 (ram), L20 R20 B25 T15 U15; Acc. 5, HC 3, 7200 lbs., $24,775
You can tell this an old design because there's just way too much crap in the car. I just felt a need to fill up all that space!  And the ram-plate is the kicker.  Gadzooks.

A general note about my process of updating and improving vans: I'd prefer to go to IC engines to save weight than C/A frames.  I show what a C/A would look like in my second option. Definitely more armor, and 3 linked Vulcans may be worth it.  You can definitely upgrade to a HRTC once you go above div40, as well.
