Dan's Pride 2066 - Div20 Luxury (Update)

Type: Luxury, Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: Large Electric (PC) (Pwr 2200, 10dp), Tires: 4 FP-Radial-Steelbelted-Solids(14dp), Crew: Driver (no equip) & Gunner (no equip), Weaponry VMG (20/reg) in turret (2D area), HDFT (10/reg) back (2D, fire mod: 5/3) with BTC, HR front (3D), Unwgt. • Option 1 - change HDFT to FT, add 9 pts LRFP comp. armor to it, remove HR, add IFE, add spoiler & airdam, add 1 pt. vehicle armor, 6598.2 lbs, $19,997.50

Comp., 40 pts WG/WH, Styx Defensive System*, 140 pts Sloped Plastic Armor (FBRL 30 TU 10), HC 3, Top 90, Acc. 5, 6120 lbs, $19,872.00

Even with the math error in the original, there's a lot of empty spaces in the car (hence the Sedan version), but I used the space for the CA & sloping in the original update.

* Styx Defensive System = 6 Smoke Dischargers linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T; covering tires of those sides as well) & 4 bumper triggers (to oil & also linked to that side's weapons)

All in all, not so bad an idea except that it's still hard to fit all the fun stuff into one frame, and with the modern upgrades I couldn't get it under 20.

* Styx Defensive System = 6 Foam Dischargers linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T; covering tires of those sides as well) & 4 bumper triggers (to oil & also linked to that side's weapons)

Max 6600, Cost: $24,863.50

Design Notes - Updated from this 2037 design:
Luxury, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., Super PP, 4 Solid Tires, Driver; RL with mag in turret, 2 linked RR front, OJ back, PS right, PS left, HRTC, 181 pts Plastic Armor: F 40 B 30 R 30 L 30 T 26 U 25; HC: 3, Acc. 5, 6600 lbs. (max 6600), $24,220.00
Once I have a luxury, it seems a crime to not slope the armor & add component armor. To do that, I needed to drop 1 PS & 1 weapon. In addition, I feel when you have a front & turrent weapon they should be the same type if possible to exploit the smartlink.

* Styx Defensive System = 6 Smoke Dischargers linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T; covering tires of those sides as well) & 4 bumper triggers (to oil & also linked to that side's weapons) Defenses: Styx Defensive System*;

* Styx Defensive System = 6 Smoke Dischargers linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T; covering tires of those sides as well) & 4 bumper triggers (to oil & also linked to that side's weapons)
  • Gunner, Option 1 - Add gunner (who gets the HRTC), add SWC for driver, for armor is unsloped, remove 15 pts vehicle armor: $49,755.00

  • Div35, Option 2 -  as first option 1, but remove all TL & LGL, remove 1 pt WG, remove laser reactive webs, remove PC from engine, remove UM from turret, replace SWC with HRTC, add 15 pts vehicle armor: Top Speed 90 (67.5/110.0), DM: 1, Hit Mod: 0, Weight: 6593.6 lbs. Max 6600, Cost: $34,995.00
Design Notes - Sparked by my remake of Thundernaught, and its mutli RL design.  I wanted to replace the RLs with VFRPs to see if it would work.  I think it's too many weapons and not enough crew.

Name Notes - Fenrir is a moon of Saturn and "Fenrir was named after Fenrisulfr, a giant wolf from Norse mythology, father of Hati and Skoll, son of Loki, destined to break its bonds for Ragnarök."

Something about RL that makes people like me want to cram them into large vehicles.

Max 6600, Cost: $29,676.50.
Design Notes - Updated from this obsolete 2037 design, possibly my first car ever:
Luxury, X-Hvy Chassis, Hvy Sus., Super PP, 4 Solid tires, Driver, Laser in turret, ATG (10/reg) Back, FT (10/reg) Left, 2 linked MG (20/reg) Front, SD (10/reg) Back, 87 pts Plastic Armor: F15, B15, L18, R18, T11, U10, Acc 5, HC 3, 6595 lbs., $25,590.

Original: Luxury, Extra Heavy chassis, Heavy suspension, Super power plant, 4 Solid tires, Driver, 2-space Turret Top w/Laser, ATG (10/reg) Back, FT (10/reg) Left, 2 linked MG (20/reg) Front, SD (10/reg) Back, 117 pts Plastic Armor: F30, L20, R20, B25, T10, U12, Acc 5, HC 3, 6895 lbs., $27,240.
Look, I love this car in the same way that you love your first puppy (or rag doll). This design has every single thing I love about Car Wars: weapons, weapons, weapons.  Nutso level weapons.

In any case, to update, the first thing that had to go was the flamethrower.  There's a place for those, but (a) not in a car with the other two heaviest weapons in the original game, (b) in a car with 3 *other* weapons, (c) with a laser as the turret (and thus primary) weapon, so excess smoke-screens is a bad idea.

Next is to add a gunner (4 weapons!), reduce the PP, add the std. modernizations (WG, Comp. Armor) etc.  I still needed some weight to add more armor so I reduced the shots in the non-Lasers.  The only reason to keep the ATG (besides that I loved them back then, and still have a thing, probably because of the picture in the Uncle Al 2035)
is for the surprise factor, hence the blow-through concealment.  I kept the MGs (instead of a VMG) because of the weight, but reduced their shots.  Then I added as many unweighted accessories that would fit in the price-division.

The Option was to optimize the basic decisions even further.  Because I made the ATG a surprise element, to save space and weight I turned that into 2 HRs (each with BTC), and then did the same for the otherwise useless front weaponry.  I saved space with that by making the 2 MGs into 1 HMG (HD).  Enough space has been cleared from the original that I could add the sloped armor and comp. armor.  I needed to reduce the smoke dischargers to foam, and I'm 50 cents under the red-line. True, by the end of this design, the glorious 2037 original is almost unrecognizable but that's evolution for you.

For the second option, I took it even further by adding the IFE and removing a HR, and changing the tires to Solids.

Name Notes - The image is of the 1925 "Rolls-Royce Phantom I Jonckheere Coupe" from Blueprints.com, that I chose for my first car.

Max 6600, Cost: $82,721.00

    * Styx Defensive System = 6 Smoke Dischargers linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T; covering tires of those sides as well) & 4 bumper triggers (to oil & also linked to that side's weapons)
Design Notes - Update of this (obsolete) 2037 original:
Luxury, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., Super PP, 4 Solid Tires, Driver (no equip) ; Laser in turret, RL (10/incen) front, TL front, LGL to 10 rockets, MD (10/reg with prox fuses) back, FOJ (25/reg) back left, MD & FOJ linked, luxury trimmings ($5k worth), 3 space sleeping area, HRTC, LDR, anti-theft system with 10 grenades, 3 bumper triggers, radar ATAD (hooked to MD, FOJ, RL), weapon timer, radar detector & jammer, overdrive, HD antilock brakes, 10 smoke dischargers, 40 pts WG/WH, 175 pts FPRP Plastic Armor: F 40 B 35 R 30 L 30 T 20 U 20; HC: 3, Acc. 5, 6600 lbs. (max 6600), $62,375.00
Unlimited/RPG cars are fun to design. To update this, I needed to balance whether component armor is more important than sloping (I basically chose CA, but I would've taken out the RL and gotten sloping as well).

Name Notes - See the original. The art is of my favorite (foreign) car when I was playing Car Wars in the 1980s, the Lamborghini Countach.

      Antiope 2065 - Div25 Luxury (Galaxy, Updated)

Type: Luxury, Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: Sport (SC) (Pwr 3300, 12dp), Tires: 4 Solid Tires (12dp), Crew: Driver (no equip) & Gunner (no equip), Weaponry VMG (20/incen) in turret (2D area, burn 2/1), 2 linked MFRP front (1Dx6, burst) Weighted Accessories: IFE, Unweighted Accessories: HD brakes, HDHTM, Dischargers: 10: 4 oil (FBRL) 6 foam (2T, 2U, 1R 1L) Defenses: n/a; Wheel Armor: 40 total = 2x10 pt WG rear, 2x10 pt WH front, Component Armor:  Power Plant = 10 pts FP over 6 spaces, Driver = 10 pts FP over 2 spaces, Cargo: No space, no weight; Vehicle Armor: 92 pts Composite Armor (19 Metal/73 Plastic): F(4/13) B(4/13) R(4/16) L(4/16) T(1/10) U(2/5); HC: 3, Acc. 10 (HDHTM 20),  Top Speed 120 (80), Cruising: 72, DM: 1, Hit Mod: 1, Weight: 6600 lbs. Max 6600, Cost: $24,960.00
      • Option - remove gunner, slope the armor, modify composite to 67 pts (29 Metal/38 plastic): F(6/6) B(5/6) R(7/8) L(7/8) T(2/5) U(2/5); $24,981.00

Design Notes - Updated from this obsolete 2037 design:
      Luxury, Xtra-Heavy Chassis, Heavy Suspension, Thundercat PP, 4 PR Tires, Driver & Gunner; VMG (20/HD-incen) in turret, 2 linked MFRPs front, 125 pts Plastic Armor: F 30 B 25 R 20 L 20 T 15 U 15; HC: 3, Acc. 10, 6600 lbs., $24,650.00
It was obsolete because of the ammo (and, in a sense, because of the unnecessary T-cat engine).  This was a design challenge but I think I managed it (with the help of the MADHAT excel sheet - that little tool makes this whole blog viable).  I'm not sure if I need the gunner, hence the option.

In recent days, I've realized that HD brakes are more important than my laser array stuff and I'm giving primacy to that now.

Name Notes - See the original; it's good.

Type: Luxury, Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: Large (SC) (Pwr 2200, 10dp),  Tires: 4 Solids (12dp), Crew: Driver (no equip) Weaponry VMG (20/reg) in turret (2D area), 2 linked RL (10/AP) front (2D+2, no burst), HDFOJ (10/reg) back (1D-2, fire mod: 3/2), Weighted Accessories: IFE, Unweighted Accessories: HRSWC (to RLs), [1 total link], Dischargers: 10 total: 4 oil (FBRL) 3 smoke (1T, 1R 1L), 3 foam (1T 2U) Defenses: 4 bumper triggers (to oil & also linked to that side's weapons); Wheel Armor: 40 total = 2x10 pt WG rear, 2x10 pt WH front, Component Armor:  Power Plant = 9 pts LRFP over 5 spaces, Driver = 9 pts LRFP over 2 spaces, Cargo: No space, 1.4 lbs; Vehicle Armor: 153 pts sloped Composite (2 LR Metal/151 FP Plastic): F(0/30) B(0/30) R(0/35) L(0/35) T(0/16) U(2/5); HC: 3, Acc. 5,  Top Speed 90 (75/120), Cruising: 54, DM: 1, Hit Mod: 0, Weight: 6598.6 lbs. Max 6600, Cost: $24,982.50

Design Notes -This is an update of this 2037 design:
      Luxury, Xtra-Heavy Chassis, Heavy Suspension, Super PP, 4 Solid Tires, Driver, VMG in turret, 2 linked RL front, HDSS back, HDFOJ back, HRTC, 170 pts Plastic Armor: F 40 B 30 R 30 L 30 T 20 U 20;  HC: 3, Acc. 5, 6590 lbs. (max 6600), $25,000.00

Back in the day, if I was $1000 over in a weight class, instead of tweaking the design, I just added a Hi-Res computer and accepted going up a class.  The options were seriously limited.  In any case, this design is seriously flawed, as seen by the mixing of weapons (which I kept in this upgrade, given the arbitrary rules I set for myself), as well as the combo of a HDSS with a HDFOJ (because FOJs create smoke clouds automatically!).   I also left off 1 pt armor to keep it under 25K.

In the update I took out the HDSS because it's unnecessary given the HDFOJ (which I did keep).  I used the found space for component armor and IFE (not enough space for sloping).  In trying to keep the Div25 price, I reduced the HRTC to a HRSWC (those stupid rocket launchers), and I needed to eschew my normal laser-reactive web defense system.

Name Notes -  It's nonsense; see the original.

      Keeutenk 2065 - Div40 Luxury (Updated)

Type: Luxury, Chassis: Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: Large (PC & SC) (Pwr 2300, 10dp), Tires: 4 PR Tires (9dp), Crew: Driver (no equip), Weaponry HL front (4D area), RL (10/reg) back (2D, burst) Weighted Accessories: Active Suspension, IFE, Unweighted Accessories: HRTC, HD-antilock brakes, HTM & Overdrive (linked), no-paint windshield, [6 total links], Dischargers: 10 total: 4 oil (FBRL) 6 smoke (2T, 2U, 1R 1L), Defenses: Smoke Dischargers linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T; covering tires of those sides as well); 4 bumper triggers (to oil & also linked to that side's weapons); Wheel Armor: 40 total = 2x10 pt WG rear, 2x10 pt WH front, Component Armor:  9 pts LRFP for (a) Power Plant (5 sp.), (b) Driver (2 sp.) (c) HL (2 sp.), (d) RL (2 sp.) Cargo: No space, 2.6 lbs; Vehicle Armor: Sloped Composite (2 LR Metal/138 FP Plastic): F(0/30) B(0/30) R(0/30) L(0/30) T(0/15) U(2/5); HC: 3, Acc. 5 (HTM 10/Overdrive 2.5),  Top Speed 92.5 (67.5/112.5), Cruising: 55.5, DM: 1, Hit Mod: -1, Weight: 6597.4 lbs. Max 6600, Cost: $38,908.50

Design Notes - An update of this rule-breaking obsolete design from 2037 (which I took into combat, BTW):
      Luxury, Xtra-Heavy Chassis, Heavy Suspension, Super PP, 4 PR Tires, Driver, 2 linked HL front, 2 linked RL rear, 3 mini-rockets: R, L, B; 80 points component armor (OBSOLETE no space & damage sinks), HRTC, 63 pts Plastic Armor (number in pareth. is effective armor with damage sinks): F 16 (36) B 10 (40) R 15 (25) L 15 (25) T 2 U 5; ; HC: 3, Acc. 5, 6600 lbs., $39,160.00
I couldn't replicate the car for the modern time because of the rules changes, so to acknowledge the zeitgeist of the original, I trimmed the twin weapons to just 1 each but component armored those (which I don't normally do).

Name Notes -  The 'Q' prefix means it has hidden powers; in the case of the original that meant illegal designs.

      Lympite 2065 - Div35 Luxury (Updated)

Type: Luxury, Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: Large PP (Pwr 2000, 10dp),  Tires: 4 PR Tires (9dp), Crew: Driver (no equip),

      Weaponry:
      • Laser in turret (3D area),
      • 2 linked RR (10/reg) front (2D burst),
      • 2 linked MG (20/reg) (1D area) back,
Weighted Accessories: FE, Unweighted Accessories: TC, HD brakes, HTM & Overdrive (linked), no paint windshield, [8 total links], Dischargers: 10 dischargers: 4 oil (FBRL) 6 smoke (2T, 2U, 1R 1L), Defenses: Smoke Dischargers linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T; covering tires of those sides as well); 4 bumper triggers (to oil & also linked to that side's weapons); Wheel Armor: 40 total = 2x10 pt WG rear, 2x10 pt WH front, Component Armor:  Driver = 9 pts LRFP over 2 spaces, 135 pts sloped FP Plastic Armor: F(25) B(23) R(30) L(30) T(14) U(13); HC: 3, Acc. 5 (HTM 10/Overdrive 2.5),  Top Speed 90 (67.5/110), Cruising: 54, DM: 1, Hit Mod: -1, Weight: 6599.6 lbs. Max 6600, Cost: $34,865.00
      • Option - Remove 1 MG, add active suspension, add 9 pts LRFP component armor around PP, remove HD brakes, no-paint windshield, HTM & overdrive, Laser web system and links, HC 4, Acc 5, Top 90, 6598.6 lbs, $34,927.50

Design Notes - An update of this combat veteran:
      Luxury, Xtra-Heavy Chassis, Heavy Suspension, Super PP, 4 PR Tires, Driver; Laser in turret, 2 linked RR with mags front, 2 linked MG back, TC, FE, 127 pts FP Plastic Armor: F 30 B 30 R 20 L 20 T 14 U 13;  HC: 3, Acc. 5, 6600 lbs., $29,680.00 [actually $30,080 oops]
First I just attempted to add my normal upgrades (dischargers etc) while retaining the original weapons systems and FP armor and such.  I had to bump it up a price class, which may feel like a violation of the upgrade rules, except that I wouldn't have such a ridiculous system of weapons in my modern sensibility.

      Name Notes -Same as original.

      • Option - Carbon-Aluminum frame, add 81 pts vehicular armor, add 1 pt WH front, 6594.6 lbs, $82,123.50
Design Notes - Update of this original:
      Luxury, Xtra-Heavy Chassis, Heavy Suspension, Super PP, 4 Solid Tires, Driver; 2 linked Lasers front, 2 linked Lasers back, 2 laser batteries, 105 pts Plastic Armor: F 25 B 20 R 20 L 20 T 5 U 15; HC: 3, Acc. 5, 6600 lbs., $42,900.00.
The basic upgrade was to use a turret with smart links to the back and front lasers (and then add my standard upgrade package of dischargers etc).  The final version is still a massive turkey.

Name Notes - See the original.

      • Div25 Luxury OptionType: Luxury, Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: Large (SC) (Pwr 2300, 10dp), Tires: 4 Solid Tires (12dp), Crew: Driver (no equip) Weaponry: BC with mag (18/HESH, last 2 reg) front (4D burst*), OG (10/reg) back, Weighted Accessories: none, Unweighted Accessories: HRSWC to BC, SWC to OG, HTM, [2 total links], Dischargers: 10 dischargers: 4 oil (FBRL) 6 smoke (2T, 2U, 1R 1L), Defenses: Smoke Dischargers linked to 2 laser reactive webs (L, T; covering tires of those sides as well); 4 bumper triggers (to oil & also linked to that side's weapons); Wheel Armor: 2x10 pt WG rear, 19 pts for WH front, Component Armor:  Power Plant = 9 pts LRFP over 5 spaces, Driver = 9 pts LRFP over 2 spaces, Cargo: No space, 0.4 lbs; 73 pts sloped Composite Armor (34 LR Metal/39 Plastic): F 8/5 B 8/5 R 8/7 L 8/7 T 0/10 U 2/5; HC: 3, Acc. 5 (HTM 10), Top Speed 90 (67.5), Cruising: 54 Weight: 6599.6 lbs. Max 6600, Cost: $24,992.50
Design Notes - This was in my draft pile dated Oct 8, 2009.  The original form of the car is now listed as an option (you can tell it's from a few years ago because back then I was giving the crew personal weapons and I didn't use metal armor much nor all 10 possible dischargers).

Anyway, I haven't made as many sedans as I should and I guess I should look at them as "Luxury light" - i.e. same design as a luxury but without armor sloping.  As far as I can tell, that's the biggest loss.  And to test that I made the second option... which gave me 3 extra spaces, actually.  So I sloped the armor, added a mag to the BC, and added some armor.  Lost the "weight class" though.

Name Notes -Part of the Galaxy series but I'm moving away from moons for now and using Constellations. Andromeda is a very famous, and naturally ancient, constellation.

      Replica: The Blues Brothers' Bluesmobile

Intro: As I described in my replica of "Copperhead Road" one of the first super-cars of my imagination is the Bluesmobile (from my favorite movie, The Blues Brothers). It's described by that Wiki page as
"a 1974 Dodge Monaco sedan ... a used Mount Prospect, Illinois police car ... equipped with the Magnum 440 squad car package that was offered by Dodge for the Monaco." And to quote Elwood: "It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas."
Online, some dude named "Le Zerp" thought the same way I did, and made his version, listed below.  Alas, its different from how I pictured the car, but also it seems not to fit the Car Wars rules.

Le Zerp (www.krikkit.dk) Bluesmobile MK II 6-6-2001 - Sedan, Hvy Ch., Hvy Sus., 400 cid IC (no mods), 5 gal duel tank, 1 driver, 3 passengers, 4 PR radial tires, ramplate, rollcage, searchlight, ABS, "defekt cigaretlighter" tinted goggles, 80 pts composite armor 30 Metal, 50 plastic, F 10/12 B 8/6 RL 6/8 T 0/6 U 0/6; Acc 15, top 120, cruise 72.5, HC 4, Max Weight 7650 lbs?? current weight: 6209, $19,815
      • Design Notes - I can defend his decisions even though I'm not going to use them.  He's right on the engine size, metal armor, searchlight, cigarette lighter, and sunglasses.  While I would love to think the Bluesmobile has a ramplate & rollcage, I don't know if the original did and I will make 2 versions, with and without.  But why make the car a 'sedan'?  If that ain't a luxury, nothing is.
      Styx Bluesmobile (Optimal)
Type: Luxury, Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: 400 cid IC engine (Tubes/Blue/VP/Spr) (22dp), 15 gal. dueling tank (8dp), Tires: 4 Radial-Steelbelted-Solid Tires (14dp), Crew: Driver & 3 passengers; Weaponry: ramplate; Weighted Accessories: Active Suspension, rollcage, IFE, HD shocks, searchlight, external Sound System, Unweighted Accessories: HD-antilock brakes, Overdrive, broken cigarette lighter, LDR, magic jump jets, Dischargers: none, Defenses: none Wheel Armor: none Component Armor:  none Cargo: 1 space, 40 lbs; 24 pts Metal Armor: F 6 (ram) B 5 R 5 L 5 T 1 U 2; HC: 5, Acc. 25 (Overdrive 12.5),  Top Speed 150 (170), Cruising: 90 Weight: 6560 lbs. Max 6600, Cost: $50,470.00 (new)

      Design Notes
      • As stated above, this optimal version has the best engine in the 400 range. I retained the idea of a roll-cage - which police cars could have for all I know - and ramplate (which could be similar to the "nudge bars" and/or "Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) bumper."
      • I added an IFE because I was optimizing and I had space...
      • Elwood's description was fulfilled thusly: "cop tires" = steelbelted radials (I used solids for the optimized although the 'real world' would be HD); "cop suspension" = Heavy Sus. plus Active Suspension (I wish there was a "cop suspension" but that could actually be the same as Heavy-Active); "cop shocks" = best I could think of were the HD shocks plus the best brakes.

The other accessories - as proven by the film - were:
The Searchlight (in a deleted scene):
      The Sound System (external)
The top speed acquired (150) sounds right:

The magic jump jets (I could add real ones but [a] they were magic in the film, and [b] for the life of me, I have no idea how to make those in CW):
      Exhibit B:
      Exhibit C:

      Styx Bluesmobile (Real to Movie)

Type: Luxury, Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: 450 cid IC engine (Blue/VP/Spr) (24dp), 17 gal. dueling tank (8dp), Tires: 4 Radial-Steelbelted-HD Tires (8dp), Crew: Driver & 3 passengers; Weaponry: none; Weighted Accessories: Active Suspension, HD shocks, searchlight, external Sound System, Unweighted Accessories: HD-antilock brakes, Overdrive, broken cigarette lighter, magic jump jets, Dischargers: none, Defenses: none Wheel Armor: none Component Armor:  none Cargo: 1 space, 220 lbs; 36 pts Metal Armor: F 8 B 8 R 8 L 8 T 2 U 2; HC: 5, Acc. 25 (Overdrive 12.5),  Top Speed 162.5 (182.5), Cruising: 97.5 Weight: 6380 lbs. Max 6600, Cost: $44,025.00 (new)
      • Design Notes - I made the engine 450 to be closer to the 440 in the description.  I felt that a cop engine would at least be blueprinted, no? No tubular headers because those are visible.  I decided to accept a turbocharger and the supercharger because they plausibly could be in cop engines (my ignorance is my strength).  I reduced the tires to HD and removed the ramplate and rollcage, expecting the metal frame to basically duplicate those functions.  Everything else is basically the same.
      Proof for no rollcage:

      Prospero 2063 - Div30 Luxury

Type: Luxury, Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: Large (SC) (Pwr 2200, 10dp), Tires: 4 Radial-Solid Tires (11dp), Crew: Driver (blended BA), Weaponry: OG with mag (20/reg) back, HDPS with mag (20/reg) front (also hooked up as part of the Styx Laser Paint Array), MD (10/reg) back, MD (10/reg) right, Weighted Accessories: IFE, safety seat, HD shocks, Unweighted Accessories: HRSWC, HD-antilock brakes, HTM & Overdrive (linked), no-paint windshield, 3 links for defenses, [9 total links], Dischargers: 10 dischargers: 4 oil (FBRL) 6 smoke (2T, 2U, 1R 1L), Defenses: Smoke Dischargers linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T; covering tires of those sides as well); 4 bumper triggers (to oil & also linked to that side's weapons); Wheel Armor: 2x10 pt WG rear, 4x10 pt WH, Component Armor: none Cargo: No space, no weight;  186 pts Plastic Armor: F 23 B 60 R 35 L 35 T 13 U 20; HC: 4, Acc. 5 (HTM 10/Overdrive 2.5),  Top Speed 90 (67.5/110), Cruising: 54 Weight: 6600 lbs. Max 6600, Cost: $31,020.00

Option -  remove right MD, add Component Armor:  Power Plant = 9 pts LRFP over 5 spaces, Driver = 9 pts LRFP over 2 spaces, add 6 pts external armor; 6598.6 lbs, $30,927.50

Design Notes -As noted, this is an upgrade of this car, a rear-guard vehicle:
      Luxury, Xtra-Heavy Ch., Heavy Sus., Large PP (PC & SC) (Pwr 2300, 10dp), 4 Solid Tires (12dp), Driver & Gunner (each with SWC, ABV/BA, SMG with 9 shots, 2 thermite grenades with impact fuses), OG (10/reg) back, HDSS (10/reg) back, MD (10/reg) right, MD (10/reg) left, IFE, spoiler & airdam, 3 links for weaponry, 2 SWCs, 2x10 pt WG rear, 2x10 pt WH front, 2x1pt WH rear, (personal equipment: $2158, 52 lbs) 183 pts Plastic Armor: F 20 B 60 R 34 L 34 T 15 U 20, HC: 3 (4 over 60), Acc. 5, Top Speed 92.5, Cruising: 55.5 6600 lbs. $20,738.00
The idea behind the updates was that the gunner is nice but unnecessary when you have only 1 aimed weapon.  Also, the ammo levels are low: only 10 shots each for all these things.  For a road-vehicle, that's sparse.  I was also concerned with the MD placement (which I couldn't actually fix).

The mods were to (a) remove the gunner to use the space/weight for extra mags, (b) change the HDSS to a HDPS and move it to the front to allow more weapons to the rear; I presumed that a paint spray would bathe the car in paint but the no-paint windshield would protect me while harming others (c) extra mags for the sprayers (for some reason, MDs bother me for long trips because you won't see that patch of road again).

I still consider this a Div30 because a tweaker can drop components to get to the level.

Name Notes - Prospero is a moon of Uranus, according to the Wiki: "discovered on 18 July 1999 by the astrophysicist Matthew Holman and his team ... named after the sorcerer Prospero in William Shakespeare's play The Tempest."

      Prospero 2057 - Div20 Luxury (Galaxy)

Type: Luxury, Chassis: Xtra-Heavy, Suspension: Heavy, Engine: Large (PC & SC) (Pwr 2300, 10dp), Tires: 4 Solid Tires (12dp), Crew: Driver & Gunner (each with SWC, ABV/BA, SMG with 9 shots, 2 thermite grenades with impact fuses), Weaponry: OG (10/reg) back, HDSS (10/reg) back, MD (10/reg) right, MD (10/reg) left, Weighted Accessories: IFE, spoiler & airdam, Unweighted Accessories: 3 links for weaponry, 2 SWCs,  Wheel Armor: 2x10 pt WG rear, 2x10 pt WH front, 2x1pt WH rear, Cargo: No space, no weight (personal equipment: $2158, 52 lbs) 183 pts Plastic Armor: F 20 B 60 R 34 L 34 T 15 U 20, HC: 3 (4 over 60), Acc. 5,   Top Speed 92.5, Cruising: 55.5 Weight: 6600 lbs. Max 6600, Cost: $20,738.00

Design Notes -This was in my draft pile dated Aug 12, 2007.  It started as a "Rear Guard Luxury" for the convoy project, what eventually became this car.  I decided to keep the original design for use as a rear-guard vehicle.   However, it lacks many of the "modern" tweaks I use, so I'm also making an upgrade (check this space).

Name Notes - Prospero is a moon of Uranus, according to the Wiki: "discovered on 18 July 1999 by the astrophysicist Matthew Holman and his team ... named after the sorcerer Prospero in William Shakespeare's play The Tempest."

Design Notes - An update of this 2037 Original:

Sus., Super PP (12dp), 4 PR Tires (9dp), Driver (no equip); 2 HR (8/AP) in turret with 2 3sp rocket magazines, ITL in turret, LGL to the 8 HRs, RL (10/reg) front, SD (10/explosive), TC, (LGL total = $2200), 193 pts Plastic Armor: F 40 B 35 R 40 L 40 T 23 U 15; HC: 3, Acc. 5, Top Speed 100, Pwr 2600, 6645 lbs. (max 6600), $21,810.00

Well, I wanted to keep this a Div20, and the only way to do that was all metal.  I'm not sure this is strong enough for div20.

Name Notes - A moon of Jupiter. According to the Wiki: "It was discovered by a team of astronomers from the University of Hawaii led by Scott S. Sheppard in 2000 .... It was named in October 2002 after Megaclite, mother by Zeus (Jupiter) of Thebe and Locrus (although both of these are assigned a different mother by other authors)."

      Slice 2057 - Div20 Luxury (Updated)

Luxury, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., 4 FP Steelbelted PR Tires (11dp), Large PP (PC & SC), Driver & Gunner; ATG (10/APFSDS) front, 2 MG (20/reg) in turret, MML (10/smoke) back, 2 TC, 10 dischargers: 4 oil (FBRL) 6 smoke (2T, 2U, 1R 1L): smoke linked to 5 laser reactive webs (F, B, R, L, T; covering tires of those sides as well) and 4 bumper triggers (to oil & also linked to that side's weapons); 5 total links, 34 pts total for Wheelguards/Wheelhubs (you choose where), 9 pts LRFP Component Armor each around (a) PP and (b) driver, 150 pts sloped plastic Armor: F30 B30 R30 L30 T15 U15HC 3, Acc. 5, Top Speed 92.5, Pwr 2300, 6599.6 lbs. (max 6600), $24,927.50

Design Notes - This is an update of this car:
Luxury, Xhvy Ch., Hvy. Sus., 4 SD Tires, Super PP, Driver; ATG (10/reg) front, 2 linked HR front, RL (10/reg) back, 2 MG (20/reg) in turret, bumper trigger front, TC, 150 pts plastic Armor: F30 B30 R30 L30 T15 U15; HC 3, Acc. 5, 6600 lbs., $19,600

Well, I incorporated a suggestion from an ADQ to use FP steelbelted PR tires instead of solids because they weigh the same, have 1 less DP, but are FP, and that's a big advantage in the FOJ areana.

To be honest, I picked up a tip to have 1 piece of Metal armor on the bottom for that reason as well (I haven't yet incorporated that).

Another trick in this car is a MML with smoke loads - which according to the UACFH will create a line of 2 1"x½" smoke counters, making this a cheap gas streamer (and better than a standard SS).

I took out the HRs (because, why?) and the RL (same reason) - it was just my teenage overkill, and back then, what else would you do with 4 extra spaces?   In modern design, I reduced the spaces further with a Large PP, and filled up the 5 with (a) gunner, (b) sloped armor, (c) CA.

Unfortunately, I don't see how to get this car down to div20 and maintain the necessary upgrades while also keeping weapon system integrity.

      Zap Gun 2037 - Div45 Luxury

      Updated here:
      Luxury, Xtra-Heavy Chassis, Heavy Suspension, Super PP, 4 Solid Tires, Driver; 2 linked Lasers front, 2 linked Lasers back, 2 laser batteries, 105 pts Plastic Armor: F 25 B 20 R 20 L 20 T 5 U 15; HC: 3, Acc. 5, 6600 lbs., $42,900.00.

Design Notes-Well, this was inevitable, no?  Lasers lasers lasers.  Back in 2037 we loved, I loved, lasers. Yes, they were heavy, expensive, and left you with no armor, but outside of smoke-screens, the laser was unstoppable.

Name Notes-Original name, slightly modified above, was "Zap-Gunn" and it's one of my really stupid mispellings of the obvious content of the car.
